I know the Military 2 is on the way and the Military is supposed to be made for a while longer while the M2 market is tested. Lets face it… we all know what is going to happen.

So I am going to start asking for it now…

We need a 30 year anniversary release of the C36 military. It was released in 1996 so 2026 is the year. I figure it will take some time to get it done.

It needs to be the ULTIMATE military

I vote for peel ply carbon fiber and Ti/Ril Stonewashed 3V, run a bit hard, with a crowned spine. Stonewashed black clip with blacked out hardwear, stop pin and standoffs.

Make this a bigger run so I can buy three! It will be the one!

PLEASE DO NOT WRITE anything on the blade other than CPM3V, Spyderco, Golden Colorado Earth.

WHO’s with me?????

I knew you would be the first to jump on this thread. Ide be fine with peel ply and magnacut, but I really want 3V.

My personal opinion is a resounding "NO" on the TiRIL portion of that. I think it is tied with a change to a compression lock for the worst thing ever to happen to the Military. I like the idea of a 30th anniversary release, but "ultimate" is always a matter of individual taste.

Ide be good with liner lock and peel ply CF too. Like the 52100 sprint, but with CPM3V.

I agree with the compression lock comment. I love the Cf/Ti KW exclusive though. I sold all my full Ti millies because they were too heavy. That exclusive is right at the max weight for a military.

I already own 7 Millies and really don't need another.

The Fluted Ti is (and always will be) my favorite but I also have a CF/M390, CF/Ti S90V and the plain all Ti version of the knife plus a couple of G10 DLC S30Vs and the basic satin G10 S30V.

The only Millies that I've been looking for recently are a PE & SE version of the early 2 screw clip ATS-34 models but, I waited too long, and the asking prices for those (when you can find them) are far more than I care to pay for them now. Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️

I don't have an issue w/comp locks, so I'll certainly take a look at the anticipated Millie 2 when it's released.

The choice of steel for the Millie 2 won't matter to me, since I don't actually use the knives in my collection, but one of the currently more "popular" steels would be preferable to another Millie in S30V. As for scales, full CF is preferable to me than peel ply, especially given how much the knife is likely to cost.

PS: By "peel ply," I mean CF/G10 laminate which has been used by Spyderco on other knives in order to (I assume) lower the cost of production for those knives.

Peel ply is full carbon with texture. Laminated carobon fiber is thin carbon fiber over g10

Hi Riz,

Interesting concept.

My preference would be to continue the Military model with a the current Walker Linerlock. Maybe with SPY27. And not disco the version. Sales will determine that decision.

We haven't had much of a positive response with 3V, especially since 4V came out.

I would prefer to not use a RIL on our regular version.

I'll watch the thread to see the opinions of others.

My favorite knife! I look forward to another iteration; I am not picky. Here are some I carry:

Sal,

I strongly believe you designed the THE PERFECT folder when you created the Military. Everything about it is fantastic. That is why I have so many. It should not be dropped. S30V has served me very well and if the current version lived on forever that would be cool.

I am surprised 3V hasnt been well received. Its similar to cru-wear, which so many love. Using a tougher steel would allow it to be run a little harder and thinner behind the edge and increase cutting performance. Similar to Rex45. I saw a video where a guy HRC tested his Rex45 Millie at 66 and they are crazy tough!!!

I think a 30th year version would be cool. If it happens it should be unique and whatever you would come up with would be awesome.

I am sure the M2 will be popular for those that love the PM2 but dont like the tip down and liner lock of the Millie.

And as always, thanks for listening to your customers!

Lots of models have come along since but none have bumped the Military from my top spot. I‘m a sucker for most any Spyderco with s90v and CF. The KW cf/s90v Ti frame lock is also my favorite. I believe it to be one of Spyderco’s finest knives. I like it so much I have three of them. I’m in support of a 30th anniversary model. It should be a liner lock or a frame lock. I also don’t believe the liner lock Military should be discontinued. I don’t think a compression lock is as easy to use with gloves on.

Please disregard the tuff glide residue and rain drops. We have weather in the southwest today.

I wish I would have picked up extra S90V Knife-works sprints when they discounted them. I bought two at full price and made a monster millie out of one. The other is minty in the box.

Monster Millie below…

Millie user for 9 years now. The ti millie is hardly used and I need to oil it regularly or it'll rust. I take it out just to test the lock. It still makes that satisfying "thunk!" The G-10 millie gets the most pocket time and actual use. It already has permanent stains on the blade due to gardening chores and I don't sharpen that frequently.

Definitely in for a g10 or cf version. Out on Ti RIL; had one, sold it.

I'd love a 3V, but I understand that it's been eclipsed by a lot of other steels. Stainless purple cruwear to match my EDC PM2?

5-by-5 5-by-5 that some serious blade swap action you got going!

Yeah. Only the jade BHQ is stock.

Swaps are the only way to get Military grails, and with the Paramilitary XL coming I doubt there will be anything but BLK s30v from here on out.

So I have been thinkin about this and thought of something unique

Sal Glesser Sal Glesser and everyone else…

What about fluted titanium handles but with the standard Walker liner lock?

It would give a super clean look to the scales (which the lock side scale on the fluted RIL didnt have) and would be something that hasnt been done yet on a Military. Perfect for a go big 30 year special run! Who knows what steel, by then there will be super-ultra-magncut-450vn!
