Let's Talk About Flippers

Ya tell me about it, I had to hunt one down a while ago. Mine is smooth but doesn't fly open, yet. The polish or bushing on the blade is very nice. The grip shape is kind of like a wedge, it fits great in the hand.

I got a serrated tanto Zing recently and its surprisingly quick and smooth, when I release the liner lock the blade falls closed, a feat a thought was only attainable with bearings around the pivot.

I LOVE my Zing tanto

These awesome pics, taken by "Mystro" , is of a David Mosier Spyro. I hated to get rid of it, as it was super smooth....VERY well built.

That one is very handsome.

It was very naughty of you to display this fine blade, thereby making me covet it, only for me then to learn that it is no longer made.

 Sorry! I really am quite the misbehaving naughty-type knife collector person there. Or, as my wife calls it, "9."

I, too, love flippers. Heres a few of my favorites. I also want a Zermeno when he's done with blade and a Hoback A10.

I like flippers! In my opinion...it's the most "impressive" one visually. Flippers were actually what got me into folding knives....The spydie hole is my favorite way of opening but flippers are right behind.

The flippers that I have are the:
CRKT M16-13DSFG
CRKT M16 - 14DSFG
and the CRKT Ripple

I don't have any ZT's (though I would if they were only some smaller versions) because they're a bit too big for my taste...

flippers are fine with me, I don't preffer them, but don't get bothered by them either.

my ZT flippers,
ZT0350
ZT0301
ZT0561

also just picked up a Leek.

I love flippers, and thumbstuds together... I like to have both options...

Ever since I first encountered them on a Kershaw Boa, I thought e ery knife should have them. The more currently popular versions on un assisted openers that have to be longer and bigger to give leverage are less appealing, as I can see them getting in the way when folded, but I have yet to try them so I might feel differently with them once I have them in hand. :D

I have a few and really like flippers.

I traded an RJ Martin Overkill in the brick mold pattern for a Peter r custom. I wish I hadn't traded it. I should have kept the RJM and Used it.

Only flipper I own or have ever really handled is my CRKT M16-10Z. Got it for $16 on a sale at Big 5 as a cheap EDC knife and I like the knife quite a bit especially after spraying a little WD-40 on it. I now don't even have to flick my wrist to open it, it just comes out like a switchblade. Only thing I don't like about it are the thumb studs are useless and the blade does seem to dull rather quickly.

Though I've never really had much of an opinion on flippers in general, my M16 has made me appreciate them and looking at some of the ones you guys have posted, has got me a little interested in purchasing another one.

CRKT Eros and Ripple 2. Both astoundingly fast and light, especially the Eros. 3" blade, full size Ti framelock, that weighs 1.3 oz? Hells yeah!

I like flippers but I don't like when its just a flipper for deployment and thats it. I want the option of flipper or thumbstud/ deployment hole

The only one I've ever tried...I noticed that I had to get my forefinger out of the way when I attempted to close it.
Yeah, I could get used to that.

CRKT M16 has been my EDC for a lot of years and has stood up to some real abuse but the blade has finally taken one nick to many.

Its time for me to change up to something else and I have plans... but if they fall though I'll buy a new M16 pull the blade out and stick it in the old handle. I'm not a fan of the new AutoLAWKs system.
