Let's talk about the Spyderco Military

Ok fine. Its OK. Not my fave, which is why I don't own one. Its cool that like many Spydie's its available in unique steels etc, it just doesn't do anything for me in particular. Plus I just felt like being a dick when I posted because I'm having a rough day and maybe I just suck whatever.

Cruwear, S90, M4, Titanium, BG-42, D2, M390, S30 - yeah, i would say I like em. I buy Spyderco pocketknives exclusively and would have to say that the military is my favorite platform out of the Spyderco line.

Esav, get him!

Better get me, too. Heh. :D

I'm not fond of my Millie. I have the camo/black version and really don't like the way it fits my hand. The positioning of the liner lock and the jimping on the lock impact my forefinger and make it difficult to use comfortably. I would probably like it quite a bit more if it had a compression lock like the PM2.

Of course, JMO. ;)

You're alright, no hard feelings. It is kinda weird because I am sort if like you in that it is just an ok knife but, I just love it so much for some reason. It feels good and is not too big for me to haul all day with a flashlight, Glock, and Leatherman, among other things. Multiple steel configs is nice too but I cant find a cru wear anywhere!

Does it at least fit you hand better with gloves? I like the way mine feels in my hand but when I pick it with gloves on, the whole world just starts making sense...

Can I hold your cru wear sometime or is that a little to weird coming from a stranger?

Sure. But there are times for gloves and times that I don't wear gloves. I guess I don't like the idea that I have to wear gloves to make the feel of a knife comfortable and, typically, I use a fixed blade if I'm wearing gloves anyway. Lots of people like the knife so Spyderco hit the market squarely with the design. But if I want to use a larger format folder, I reach for my Manix 2 XL (which I love) and the Millie stays in the drawer.

That is one of the things that Spyderco does that is great - they have different choices for different needs and tastes.

Options. It's all about the options...love it

I missed the military cruwear, I did see it on a site but was marked up a lot in price, and who knows if it was accurate when they state that it is in stock.

I'm one of the few who are not a fan of the compression lock on the para 2 , that's why I'm sure the military would be ideal for me.

Its not easy for me to pick a favorite spyderco, but if I could only keep one it would be a military for sure!

I was lucky enough to be part of the S30V blackout pass-around last month and it was an awesome knife and the largest foldin knife I've carried to-date but when it came time to make a purchase in that category I went with a BM 710.

Nothing wrong with the military, I enjoyed carrying it and can't argue against its performance, but to me, only able to purchase one such knife, the military didnt quite make the cut (tho that doesn't mean a military 2 wouldn't, when it gets here).

I like millies, I have 11 including the cruwear which I used when helping a few neighbors lash down while prepping for typhoon Haiyan. Good thing it missed us too.
