Lets talk GEC!

Good idea but another good one would be a Farm & Field 81 Stockman. We know with the 62 pocket Carver that GEC can perfectly set three blades in a narrow well.
Dan.
Yes. I’ve said this before, but I’d love to see a farm and field stockman in yellow delrin like the old yellow shadow pattern schrades. I’d also like to see a cap lifter substituted for the spey. There are old examples of the caplifter stockman. I have one from the 60s (I think) that was my Grandpa’s.

The only thing that would make that fantastic idea better would be stainless versions of a F&F 81.

Not for me, i do prefer carbon and low alloyed tool steels. But I understand why some prefer stainless. Anyway it would be a great knife.

Dan.

Yeah, I took a long hard look at those M&Gs. In fact I may go take another look. But passed so far. They look good, but they don't offer anything different enough from several other users I already have to where I'd actually use one. I don't even use 75% of the users I already have.

I know that may be a weak argument around here! :D

I just went to their site, those M&Gs look nice, I’ve been looking for a reasonable price 35 Churchill with no luck so maybe I’ll pull the trigger but wish they didn’t have a billboard on the blade

I know garish etches aren't everyone's cup of tea. However, M&G do some reasonably faithful reproductions of the knives that the old firm produced in the early 20th century. Those old knives had the same substantial etches and I think current M&G and GEC do a great job of reproducing them and creating a knife that would be quite at home in those early times.

Plus, that etch fades pretty quickly with a bit of use and the accompanying patina.

Can’t wait for it to arrive

Those M&G 35’s are handsome, I guess the spear and pen combo isn’t speaking to me. I love the rat tail bolsters, the cover choices are excellent, and the shield is fitting. Even the pen blade looks like the useful one found on the #44. The long pull featured on the B&S might have pushed me over the edge. Still... great work GEC.

I keep looking at them- I like them, and I want to love them, but I’m also concerned that the kicks don’t have much to file before the nail nicks start getting obstructed. Likewise spear points tend to show proud tips sooner than other blade styles. Eh... they sure are lookers though. Hard to pass up, but I figure if I don’t love it, it’s not worth the premium price.

I like a rat tail on a bare head, but I'm not a fan of rat tails on both ends... is there something wrong with me?

naw, nothing wrong with you- it caught me off guard at first, but it appeals to my sense of symmetry. They also feel great to the fingers, so I’m okay with it.
