It wouldn't break my heart of they did a 66 jack again - I only have a couple of the Stockmans.
The secondary blades were more like a 2 or 3 with no snap... I ended up selling four of them because of that issue.A common complaint about the #66s from GEC's last run of them was that the pull was light - 4 to weak 5.
This is part of the problem as to why it took me too long to appreciate my knife. I listened to the herd instead of making my own evaluation. IMO that complaint is overblown and overrated. The pulls are nice and smooth as a cam tang should be. The spring does exactly what it is tasked to do, keep the blade open and or closed. I have not had an issue at all with this.A common complaint about the #66s from GEC's last run of them was that the pull was light - 4 to weak 5.
I agree, and if the knife's action wasn't such a priority with me I could have overlooked it too. This is part of the problem as to why it took me too long to appreciate my knife. This implies I have overlooked this. I have not. I like the action on my 66. There is no requirement that you do as well.I could have overlooked it too.
I think we just have different tastes. You got a god one- some got a weak one
. That's how GEC rolls. Some good or great
- others duds
.
Mine was the same. I don't mind light pulls on some knives, but I had to push the spey shut. The secondary blades were more like a 2 or 3 with no snap... I ended up selling four of them because of that issue.

I could probably carry a 66 everyday and be content.
I lucked out on my 2017 model - I remember a lot of disgruntlement though!!The Calf Ropers from 2017 weren't so snappy. Just saying - not complaining. I unloaded mine from 2017 with full disclosure to the recipients. My Calf Ropers from 2011 have very nice, snappy, walk and talk, in the range of 6 - 7 .
That harness Jack is outstanding!!! Wish GEC would make more knives with punches. Such a useful tool.
That's not what I meant. This implies I have overlooked this
Thank you, Taylor. That harness Jack is outstanding!!! Wish GEC would make more knives with punches. Such a useful tool.
Yes, that and the 36 smooth ivory bone was sourced from India.Off to another topic ... I was curious about the 36 India jigged bone variant. I assumed they called it that because of the unique cut pattern so I sent GEC an email. Joan quickly responded they sourced it from India.
