Anyone else wish/think they could keep a better system for production schedule updates? Its obviously not my business, they can run it however they want. I would certainly appreciate it though, I personally feel its so much nicer when you know what you might want to spend money on and plan for it.
I think many of us have sour grapes as we're priced out of owning GECs by the scalpers and the collectors who treat them like a funky pop or pokemon collection and feed the beast by having to own every variation of scale or blade style. Gotta catch 'em all!GEC is like the young celebrity who everyone loves when they are on the rise, but criticizes when they reach the top.
So this whole popularity thing is all your fault, eh?…got some friends into the #21 after talking up mine.
I'm hoping the next run will be metric.
Does anyone else notice that the Northfield polished blades are never truly polished? Is this something that is getting worse?
These pics highlight the micro scratches in the sunlight. From some angles the blades do look well polished, but anytime you hold the blade just right you can see the lack of true polishing.

I normally don’t worry about it because I assume a patina will be on the blade soon. But after comparing my nice 1960’s Case which has a true mirror polish to my Northfields I am wondering if GEC should raise the bar. Am I being unrealistic?

I was a huge proponent of GEC when they didn't disappear within minutes, got some friends into the #21 after talking up mine.
Until people stop paying these silly prices there will always be scalpers. I do agree that they are parasites on this hobby, but in reality there are such like minded parasites in pretty much every hobby. I don't even bother looking at fleabay anymore, but when I first started a couple years back I'd search for X pattern and see, oh they want 300 dollars for it? Nevermind, ill just not have that pattern. Blows my mind people even think about paying some of the prices they do. But I cant control what other people do, so if i can snag a knife on a drop, great, if not, oh well. Perhaps down the road I can trade something for it.
I do think we are seeing the frenzy slow down. Watching FB I see lots of GEC's for sale that 6 months ago would have been snatched up in seconds. I'd guess it's tied into the grander economic down turn.
How about a bird hook?

Recently saw an explanation video on YT, the hook is for hunters to get the bird's guts out instead of using their fingers.Catching up this thread, saw the discussion on the "shell puller" , but I always wanted to know what the bird hook was for.

Great accomplishment Ryan! Happy for you. If you ever come across another rosewood please keep me in your thoughtsHad a great trade last week that allowed me to complete my GEC 2 blade Eureka Jack collection. Had to give up something really special, but I got something equally special in return.
We didn't realize until well into our negotiations that his Rosewood Galvanic etched 92 was a serial match to my stag!
Here's my JBF Champlin subset of my Eureka collection. Newest addition on the right.
