Lets talk GEC!

These are going to be super cool! I love a caplifter on a knife and I love natural canvas. I do agree with JohnDF JohnDF they will be a little thick in the pocket, but doable in a pair of jeans.

Unfortunately, I’ll probably miss out on them, depending on when they are available, being out of the country and only having Wi-Fi when I am at the hotel. It’s an okay trade off though.

I have been curious why GEC has been going with 420HC for their stainless lately. I assume it has to do with it not being as hard on their equipment, but I could be wrong.

I hope they still throw in a 440C run every few years. If I recall correctly the last time they used it was for the #99 Wall Streets back in October of 2018.
Weren’t the 2 Acorn Barlows last fall in 440C?

Now where did I put that tube…?

Would it be safe to say that knives with an acorn on them are 440C, and those without an acorn (89 fruit knife, 05 keychain, 65 F&F fish knife( at least the old one - I don’t know about the new one)) are 420HC? Or are there inconsistencies with that statement?

I'm excited to get two color options but was curious if anyone had experience with how Black Linen Micarta ages as it is used? Sometimes it seems as if darker materials can hide the texture/grain and I like how well it shows through on photos of other Natural Canvas Micarta covers I've found.

420HC may not be as high end as 440C, but what it is really good at is being “stainless”. It is an excellent steel at resisting rust and since this last run of 89’s included a fishing knife it made sense to go with the steel that is least likely to rust.

This is going to be awesome. Been chasing a GEC cap lifter for awhile! Hope this is a sizable run….

On one hand, it's neat that an entire run of "Sudbusters" is being made in a couple of different cover options - on the other, it's a little disappointing that the SFO isn't more "exclusive". For a minute there, I thought maybe this was an execution of one of Mike's usual excellent ideas - instead, it feels more like GEC said, "Hey Mike! We're doing a run, want an SFO? What covers do you want?".

I'm probably wrong but it just feels lackluster.

This will be my first cap lifter. Super excited. I’m a fan of black linen micarta so even better. Need to get my belt sheath order in so I can carry it on my hip in a pancake sheath like I do my 71 and 21.
