Lets talk GEC!

🤷

Could be wrong, but I don't believe this section of the forum is an appropriate place for a discussion on the economics of pocket knife manufacturing.
I disagree. Economics of pocketknife manufacturing has a direct impact on GEC staying in business. Talk about buying GEC knives and flipper pricing, well...

I don't see how GEC would be losing money: everything they make gets sold now, almost immediately. Now the last time the 79 Montana whittler was made, GEC knives actually used to remain in stock for weeks.

Man, we have got to be due for a 15 run, right? Perfect size, perfect shape, and looks great regardless of blade (I’m partial to the spear).

It’s really hard for me to beat a 15 Barlow.

Man, after the 86 - I'm ready for a string of some less-popular patterns 🤣.

They're off to a great start with the current fixed blades (although they seem to be moving a little faster than I'd like...), and I think some muskrats, harvesters, and keychain knives might really help cool things off a bit further. 🤣

There are a lot of patterns that need love before we need 15s again.

yes, single big clip stainless, that would be interesting

That’s an interesting conundrum… does the Turkish clip (low profile) actually gain you anything over the big version? Big version looks a lot better open, and is probably more pinchable closed. And theoretically has longer blade life. The slimmer one will make the knife look smaller, but I have to think the effect in the pocket would be negligible. Typically for me it’s the handle that makes a knife feel big or small, not the blade.

OK, now break it down into unique configurations for each pattern...;)

Those figures are very interesting and useful reference point . Surprised that the 45 Lumberjack outstrips the 76 o_O That 45 is lumbering for sure, shipping costs would be high:D

Plenty of knives worth re-running but I want a new pattern and it should be a decent sized Sleeveboard and a smaller one too. There's room for a smaller to medium Stockman not based on a 66 but say an 82 scaled down, must have loud talk mind.

A 66 that’s a little longer and more svelte… and is there such a thing as a stockman with half stops? I like the sound of this a lot.

G GaiusJulius Not sure but I don't think Stockman have half stops ? None of mine anyway so it could be a construction thing due to krinking . 66 was too burly for my taste in mediums, if GEC need a refrence point the CASE 18 is a great marker, if GEC made the Dixie that size with the blades it has there would be no need for any other patterns......for a bit :D
