Might have to hit the exchange for one of these.would be my first barlow, and my first sawcut bone.so it's twofer or how ever that goes.now if it was a little bit bigger, but beggars can't be choosers. It is an interesting color and design,I think the blade might just compliment a 3 inches.
So will the upcoming northfield 14s have the bottle opener or will they be a third different configuration?
Same, almost bummed, a northfield bottle opener could have been nice. But also I get it everyone else is tired of bottle openers. Way I see it a 14 is so small it basically already is the pen blade, if you're gonna put a second thing on it don't make it an even tinier pen blade but I'll still buy it. Just wish I had known that before I decided not to get one of the beer cub ones holding out for the northfieldView attachment 2399133
Was hoping for some northfield 14s with bottle openers but looks like they are just coming out with pen blade secondary.
Can we just take a second to celebrate how many cover options the last few runs have had. A big complaint I’ve seen last year and the year before is that patterns were only getting 2, maybe 3 cover options per run.
But lately it seems the minimum has been about 5 and the recent 47s had 6 options? Looks like these 14s will get at least 7 variations. Can’t even count all the versions of the recent 86.
Glad to see it.
you should count how many options the 14s of 2018 had, this run is a pittance compared to that.

Options are cool but that means a percentage of the buyers will feel compelled to get every option…. Which means that hundreds of knives will be tied up by dozens of buyers, which probably notably affects the number of knives available to everyone else. Less options, all things being equal, means faster production of more knives and more people getting one.
BUT more options are nice too, so it’s kind of a wash in my book. Increases the odds one combination will call to me, but decreases my chance of getting one, at least at a reasonable price.

Congrats. Barlows and ebony wood are some of the finest. Don’t worry, wives usually don’t get it.Finally got my first GEC today. Now I just want to put it up. Wish the store had 2. One to use one to keep put up. Anyway it's a GEC #14 Barlow Macassar Ebony Tidioute 2 blade. Thought I would post here told the wife she didn't get it. Figured you all would appreciate it a little more.

Both look like “oily creek bone“ to me? Could this be the NF or is this the ”brown natural bone“?View attachment 2398030
Looks like theres another bone there to the left. I'm looking forward to these 14s
A friend of mine once told me, " I have the same amount of hair as I did 40 years ago - it just grows in the wrong places""What's Going On? " asked Marvin Gaye.
The 14 is a very small thin pattern, have/had a few, both single and 2 blades and like the look of them immensely, but as users...? Not really. Now I get violent urges for a Northfield Barlow (prefer Smooth Bone or Wood)Well, never had a Barlow version and never had a WOODEN scaled Barlow. There's my excuse.
But my chances of getting one at a non prohibitive price and getting it into the EU are about as likely as a real cure for baldness that doesn't involve painful operations and eye watering amounts of cash. Why is it actually, that hair stops growing in some places as you age only to become a feral pest in other places???![]()
