I think alot of people collect the pins,98% of my knives are not strait from a dealer so very few came with a pin.the few I have are actually kinda cool.but I had a trade voided because it didn't come with the pin.not a deal breaker for me,but for some it is.How's everyone's pins/buttons? Show 'em or toss 'em back in tube?

Which reminds me, I need to open all my tubes and throw those desiccant packs away. You know, they keep things dry until they become saturated, and then they start releasing moisture. I imagine, particularly in a humid area (like mine), that eventually it could cause moisture damage to the tube. I don't think desiccant packs have ever been considered collectable, but who knows? Some folks don't even use the knives!!!You people are like wild animals sticking your pins everywhere.
They belong in the tube, with your GEC knife wrapped in oil paper with the little desiccant pack, never to see the light of day. Seriously, you guys are demented!
Man, that's tough. Besides, ine can always buy a pin from someone who doesn't need it.I had a trade voided because it didn't come with the pin.
You think seller forgot to put it back? Not every GEC comes with a pin, and even those that do might not contain one simply because they ran out of 'em at the factory.98% of my knives are not strait from a dealer so very few came with a pin.
Nooo! Let them all free, do it now! And don't forget that poor wax paper too! They belong in the tube, with your GEC knife wrapped in oil paper with the little desiccant pack, never to see the light of day.
Where does that name come from? I'm not seeing a resemblance to a stove pipe.A Stovepipe kick!!!
That's because Bill would not do it. Here is an old example. (Not my pic)

Some are quite short!!Now I see it!
Thanks, Jim!!!Here is an old example. (Not my pic)
I have never seen pins for sale, but I have never looked.as for people forgetting to put the pin in,I'm sure that happens,I honestly didnt pay to much attention to them until I was asked if I had the pin.so if it's a trader the pin helps.Man, that's tough. Do you keep the desiccant pack in the tube? Here is my solution for humid environs. And one of my cats had to help with the photo.

There is a way of rejuvenating desiccant packs by heating them in a low oven!! Anyone know more????Which reminds me, I need to open all my tubes and throw those desiccant packs away. Just low heat long enough to dry them out. There is a way of rejuvenating desiccant packs by heating them in a low oven!! Anyone know more????
You can usually just put them on a baking pan lined with tinfoil in the oven for 30min to maybe an hour or so (depending on size) at a low temp like 200 degrees. If you turn those packs brown the heat is too high! Also something cool about desiccant packs - one way to check if they are saturated is to weigh them: a 5 gram desiccant pack is able to store 40% of its weight in moisture, so if you weigh your 5 gram pack and it's closer to 7 grams, it is saturated and should be rejuvenated or replaced...There is a way of rejuvenating desiccant packs by heating them in a low oven!!
