Lets talk GEC!

You people are like wild animals sticking your pins everywhere.

They belong in the tube, with your GEC knife wrapped in oil paper with the little desiccant pack, never to see the light of day. Seriously, you guys are demented!
Which reminds me, I need to open all my tubes and throw those desiccant packs away. You know, they keep things dry until they become saturated, and then they start releasing moisture. I imagine, particularly in a humid area (like mine), that eventually it could cause moisture damage to the tube. I don't think desiccant packs have ever been considered collectable, but who knows? Some folks don't even use the knives!!! 🤯

I had a trade voided because it didn't come with the pin.
Man, that's tough. Besides, ine can always buy a pin from someone who doesn't need it.
98% of my knives are not strait from a dealer so very few came with a pin.
You think seller forgot to put it back? Not every GEC comes with a pin, and even those that do might not contain one simply because they ran out of 'em at the factory.

Nooo! Let them all free, do it now! And don't forget that poor wax paper too!

Seriously speaking, I only keep tubes because of the art... well, more like because it is risky to take it off. Tried that with the regular Tidioute and Northfield arts and only one Tiddy survived unteared, NF I had to compose from two which got torn on the different ends. Don't feel like risking the unique arts. Yet. 😜 I can always just cut out a piece of tube with an art on it and consider it saved anyway. 😁

I just really don't like having empty packages laying around taking space, so only keep 'em if I happen to like the particular ones or if they bear some uniqueness of any kind.

I have never seen pins for sale, but I have never looked.as for people forgetting to put the pin in,I'm sure that happens,I honestly didnt pay to much attention to them until I was asked if I had the pin.so if it's a trader the pin helps.

Here is my solution for humid environs. And one of my cats had to help with the photo.

There is a way of rejuvenating desiccant packs by heating them in a low oven!! Anyone know more????

You can usually just put them on a baking pan lined with tinfoil in the oven for 30min to maybe an hour or so (depending on size) at a low temp like 200 degrees. If you turn those packs brown the heat is too high! Also something cool about desiccant packs - one way to check if they are saturated is to weigh them: a 5 gram desiccant pack is able to store 40% of its weight in moisture, so if you weigh your 5 gram pack and it's closer to 7 grams, it is saturated and should be rejuvenated or replaced...
