Lets talk GEC!

I saw that, but the preorder price was too rich for my blood, and I'm not in need of a sheath.

I am in agreement. I really wanted to get a Mudbug, have been on the mailing list for awhile. But I can't fathom why they are doing a combo-only preorder. I have no use for a sheath, I can make my own. But it effectively put the knife out of my typical price range.

Maybe next time. Or maybe GEC will do a run of Bull Busters, which would be awesome.

Don't give up hope. They did the same thing when I got mine last year. BUT, the knife by itself will go on sale in Jan. of 2018. So you will have plenty of time to save up. Be forewarned, they will go quickly when they drop. Also the sheath is well made in house. The knife rides high, tight, securely and out of the way. You free up pocket space,(knifes kinda big) and keep pocket lint out of the works.

You're our man on the inside today, Colin! Hope you score some great knives, and I can't wait to hear your report.

Maybe you'll find a unicorn today!

I did, actually! I got a store-knife unicorn 25.

I saw what looked like the #35 liners/bolsters coming together. The forum knives are in all stages throughout the shop, from blade grinding to packaging. I also caught a glimpse of some other Charlows and what I guess is the tail end of the (stunning!) Northwoods 25s. I'd be under selling it to say I regret passing on reserving one of those, especially the saw cut bone.

Been checking out the new pics in the Barlow thread, looking good!

Are the new TCs going to have a blade etch, I wonder?

ETA: I mean, I can see that they don't have one in the pics, but I thought those might be pre production made in time for the big weekend.

Precisely!

The ones pictured were so hot off the cookie sheet, they skipped the etching station and headed straight to Charlie's display. As in, the knives were finished up (with more on their heels) while Charlie et all were present-- a wonderful time to be on-site at GEC. :-)

The full run of Charlie's SFOs will receive blade etches (the Bladesforum knives will not).

I'm thinking it's a bonus getting stuffed in with the 35 calf pen jacks. But I've been wrong before plenty of times.

Thank you

Jake, I saw the flashlights getting placed in the tubes while on tour, and in the display, but honestly didn't pay much attention to them. Just my quick observations from what I saw though is I don't think there was room in the tube for much more than the light...but won't swear to that.

@L.H.S. shared this in the Rendezvous and Picnic thread:

GEC, or more exactly Farm & Field Tool, actually does now have a flashlight in the line. It is US made by Princeton Tec, and is waterproof and has a caplifter.
