Lets talk GEC!

The gec 18 beagle seems to me to be very very close to a peanut i actually like it more than a peanut i have always considered ot to be the Great Eastern version of a peanut.

At least around here, it seems the Case Swayback jack and gent are the most popular small knives @ 3.2" closed. I was hopeful that the #18 pattern would have been that size, but it wasn't. The GEC #33 is another knife around 3¼" that is extremely popular, but they continue to ignore that size slot.

I am a fan of seeing the TIW on the knives. The #13 Clerk Northfield is a fav since it has all the markings, Nortfield UN-X-LD, TIW and Great Eastern Cutlery on the tangs.

The 66 two blade Jack at 3 1/2" is the closest to an ideal small/slim knife that GEC has made. But for reasons known only to them, missed an opportunity to run them with the stockman this year.

I’d be shocked if we don’t have another run of the 33’s coming. Like the 66, it’s too popular a pattern to ignore forever.

I personally prefer the GEC Pemberton over the Case Peanut . I have no problem with a Peanut it is just my opinion .

Did any of you folks notice the pics of pattern 56 in production under the the “What’s Happening” section on GEC’s website??? One of the pics shows pheasant feather acrylic slabs for the upcoming 56’s. This pattern hasn’t been made since 2011. It likes like a cool pattern.

Good eye. If they make the 56, I'll be very tempted by it. I love 3 1/2" knives in the pocket, and that pattern looks like it would be super comfortable in hand. I like the looks of Pheasant Feather acrylic too.

Does anybody know if/when GEC shuts down for the holidays?

I'm making the trip from TX, back up to PA to visit family and was thinking of trying to stop in.

(as previously noted by Fox79) Love how GEC nonchalantly added this to their "What's Happening" page :D

Scales with attached bolsters for the 56 Dogleg Jack! :thumbsup:

If I had a guess, it would be the entire week between Christmas and New Year, but that's pure speculation. They'll probably post it on their site later next week, or you could email Chris.

I was there just after Thanksgiving, and though they didn't have a ton - they did have some nice, older pieces in the "store" case.

Can I pray it's for 57's and not 56's...............i love me some gepettos not so for burnsides......
I second that! I do like the 56s, depending on the blade, but I would love some more 57s. I'd especially like a chance at some half whittlers.

I'm looking forward to a run of 56's. I may be against the grain here but I'm pleased to see them end-capped. Now to wait and see what blade combination they use. I have a spear/pen from the 2011 run. My example has lazy springs and both blades need help closing. Is this typical of the pattern or do I have an exception?
Take care all,
Rick
