Lets talk GEC!

yeah that's what I had figured. nothing against 1095, and definitely not a steel snob, Im just wondering how that guy managed to self patina his barlow to cause that cool blackened back spring. but it was a mixture of humidity and pocket sweat.

1095 is a steel that is able to be hardened. There is no need to harden the liners or bolsters. Many older knives are listed as iron liners/bolsters which is actually more accurate.
When they say all steel, that does not mean all 1095.
All iron/steel (unless stainless) patinas.

I have been waiting for a barehead Antique Yellow jigged long pull spear 15 for what seems like forever. Let’s make this happen!!

I'm pretty jacked up about #15 bail run. I've reserved both the micarta and the ebony. I'd normally go with bone as a second choice, but felt that I needed some more wood in my stable. And I already have a #15 sheepsfoot boy’s knife in antique yellow jigged bone. I must admit that I really love the end cap on the boy’s knife.

I begged for a long pull nail nick on the next run of 15's, but I don't think it had any effect. Looks like a crescent nail nick is the plan.:(:eek::oops:o_O

Crescent nick and bare ended!? I am very disappointed... I thought the long pull was a must on these!

Sweet! At first I wondered what kind of crazy clip shape that was...but then a quick enlarging of the photo clarified things. Although I am always a fan of larger sheepfoot blades, these look quite functional.

Oh yeah! It looks slammin'! I'm not sure if that one is even small enough to be a coping blade, but I bet it copes just fine ;)
