Lets talk GEC!

I don't think I'll have any need for a 14 in my rotation since I have two fifteens and a 56 (on the way). I can certainly see the value in collecting them if you have other knives in the same size range, but I like to use mine and I don't want to have knives that sit around (which I'm already having trouble with!).

I've not carried a traditional much smaller than 3.5" OAL, so I'm venturing into new territory with one of these 14s. I chose Barry's SFO in smooth autumn gold bone :D

I have several 14's and like them, a lot of other small knives are too fidgety to suit me.

In reference to the new #14s I am speechless. I learned long ago that one must never say anything negative about anything in forums. So I have nothing to say about the minuscule size!

No, no, not negative at all. Tiny is a good thing. And I will have more money available for other knives. :)

Jerry, thank you for showing the comparison in size. I think this #14 in smooth gold autumn bone, with a crest shield and clip blade, will be just the ticket for carryin a piece of knifer jewelry!

Anytime Perry

IMO, the clip blades are a little handier in a small knife.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, Jerry. In a knife this small, you really need a nice clip blade for that pronounced point and nice long blade cutting surface.

Wow. That's a tiny little thing. The 15 is smaller than I will carry ... :(
It's all relative. The 14 looks bigger next to an 18!

I like small knives! It helps that I have small lady-hands, and I'm most likely to use a pocketknife for small, detailed tasks. I guess it all depends on what you use a knife for, so there's no wrong or right. If I need anything bigger, it's either for cooking or camping or yardwork, in which case I'll have a larger, task appropriate tool. For everyday cutting, a 14 or 15 is a perfect size. :)

I don't mind a small knife, though I don't like the feel of something too small. I just cannot justify having more small knives than I will use regularly. It is my problem, but I don't pretend that my problem belongs to other people's problems. :)

Just wonder how long KSF will last?

That seems a bit hasty. They just completed a Northwoods, and might (???) have another on the 14 frame before year's end. As important as Derrick was to KSF, I would be surprised if he left it in such a state where it couldn't be run without his presence.

Not hasty at all. I'm sure his business was in great shape but wondering if his heirs will keep it going or perhaps sell to another dealer or employee. Not having a SFO, as other dealers do, in the run of 14's is a bit puzzling.

I guess it depends on when those orders had to be submitted. I’m sure other dealers could chime in, but I’d guess those orders were out in well before Derrick’s tragic death.

My guess is that GEC would probably not allow both a standalone SFO run and an add-on Tidioute run at the same time.

Thus, I would speculate we will see a NW in whatever they call the #14.

But, this is just a guess as Northwoods does get treated more than fair on the GEC production schedule.

That makes sense, on both counts. Thanks for chiming in!
