Lets talk GEC!

I like the Nf stamp actually; in the annals of Barlow stamps it is one of the more classy ones IMHO.

What I do hope is that GEC follows in the steps of the #15 and Charlows and makes these all-steel construction!!

Thanks Rob :) I'm only missing 1 of the #48s they made for the Rendezvous... A #48 Jack with the burn orange wave jigged bone like the one above but with the pen opening on the mark side instead of the pile side. The numbers Charlie posted from Christine say only 2 were made. That #48 and one of Charlies DE #48 Jacks in Antique Yellow bone (only 3 made) are the only #48 jacks GEC ever made that I'm missing. Here's the rest of my #48 Jack group.

I might have to get me a Diamond Jack the next time they come around.

It might grow on me.... it does beat the ones that look just like "BARLOW" text and all.

The lower case f makes the marking on the bolster a bit busy for my taste but that's just my take. They could drop the wharnclife blade too in favor of a sheepsfoot blade.

I think the lower case italic "f" is just short of too busy, but I think just the uppercase block "N" might not have been enough. I definitely think it looks interesting, I'll probably try to take a trip up to the factory store once they're out too see how the wharnecliffe feels in the hand when the clip is open and the other way around. I also am guessing it will be pretty pricey being a new pattern, barlow, two blade, and northfield.

I went ahead last night and got an early reserve on a few of those 77s. Any idea on when they're coming out?

If you look closely at the drawing the dark black Northfield emblem on the bolster jumps out at you - the rest of the knife is grayscale. It will not be so obvious on a real knife or in a real picture. I think they will be popular, but, the Nf does not look as handsome as the TC bolster, regardless. I suppose we will all find out. Not sure I like the four rivet design over the 3 rivet TC either.

I like these new Barlows. I put in a reserve for some but not in stag as I already bought three BF knives in stag. I like the Bolster design personally. It reminds me of the old New York Knife stamped Barlows.

Gosh, I didn't even realize that the (overly-fussy to my eyes, too) "embellishment" was meant to be an 'F' until you said that.

A graphic whoopsie, mayhap.

Especially because, on further reflection, "Northfield" isn't two words.

Correct P. Northfield is one word. I think they captured well by using a capital N and small f. ;)

It definitely looks too busy to me too. I think it would be a deal breaker.

Good point Sarah. I guess you could say that if they go with that logo stamped on the bolster it could be considered a misspelled logo.

Maybe GEC ought to put "CY" (for Cyclops) on the bolster but then someone like me would come along and ask if the knife was named for Uncle Cy.

I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead but I think I'm actually a bit behind - errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr confused:confused:

Edited to say; Good Lord - I just had a thought that maybe GEC didn't mean it to be a lower case f. Maybe they thought they were just being fancy. Well, it didn't work. Looks like a lower case f to me.

Where are they or will be selling these? Can I get on a pre-order list?

EDIT: Nevermind I found out myself. That aside how much can you expect something like this to cost? Given that I never see any TC barlows for sale anywhere I don't really know what to expect if I go on reserve.
