i imagine the air smells of machine oil, the people all carry a sharp pocket knife, and a place where grit never gets caught in the blade joints. I bet Mr. Howard greets everyone at the door with a warm smile and hug and says “It’s okay, you’re safe now. Welcome home”. There’s open peanut butter jars with no butter or spreader knives anywhere to be found. There’s a pile of apples just waiting to be peeled, and a forest full of wood to whittle of any kind your heart desires. There’s a room full of people asking “Does anyone have a pocket knife? I can’t find the scissors anywhere.” In the next room are letters from wives to husbands thanking them for every GEC purchase they’ve made; realizing how practical that decision was. The machinists always have a big smile on their faces just knowing the joy the product brings people all over the word and they never have a bad day at work. Yes... this is how I imagine GEC’s factory is.
