Let's talk Northwoods

I love this thread. I am fortunate to own a little Bay, Calico and fall creek. I keep looking for a user Ocoee or Signal…one day if I’m lucky

What a fantastic knife. Really need to get one in purple camel bone. I always have hope for GEC bringing back the 31 pattern.
I am hoping to see the 31 pattern again. Northwoods/KSF paid GEC for the pattern tooling to be started by GEC. So I think Bill would have to have a talk with Jay from KSF before making any GEC varieties. I would like to see a few Northfield & Tidioutes split-back whittlers using the 31 pattern.

I also want one of the purple camel bone Norfolk Whittlers. I’ve been looking, but that is one that will probably never be found.

Which is pretty odd considering I’ve seen a few elephant ivory’s traded and a few mammoths. Yet never seen a purple camel bone and they made the most in the purple camel bone cover. Only by a handful but still.

That’s a beauty Travman Travman I would also love to see this pattern produced again by Northwoods knives/KSF. I’ve never held or owned one in the 31 pattern.

I think if Bill wants to make any particular pattern of any kind of pocket knife there’s nothing stopping him.

It’s hard to say what will happen with KSF sfo produced by GEC, only time will tell. Obviously, Jay is not waiting for the drum beat and moving on with other things like the Fall Creek fixed blade latest run, otherwise KSF would be out of business and of course KSF has many other knife makers in there back pocket.

I think Jay and others like Waynorth and Collector knives are walking a tight rope with GEC, cause it seems GEC holds all the cards and has a massive following. I mean who the heck could afford to open shop and compete with GEC, and match the quality and experience Bill has under his belt without pricing themselves out of the market. Not trying to offend anyone or ruffle any feathers.
That’s just my honest opinion… I’m just a pocket knife junkie… all I know is, I like pocket knives 😬

These are both from the first SFO run… #79 fremont in burnt stag

The one on the left is production number #1, the one on the right, I scored from from a BF member a couple of years ago but was missing the baggie. Both have been verified by Jay that they were in fact produced in October of 2013.

fishin1635 fishin1635 that is a beautiful set of stag Fremont Jacks.

The 31 pattern is a little different from other Northwoods knives made on GEC patterns. Derrick Bohn of KSF paid GEC to create the tooling for that pattern. That’s why there are no GEC branded knives made on the 31 pattern.

Thank you Trav.

I’ve got to get my hands on one of those 31s knowing this info. Yours is classy example 👍🏻👍🏻

The giraffe look so nice. How do drops usually work for Northwoods? Do we know generally when they will drop and what will drop or do they fall out the sky?

Northwoods/KSF would post info on their social media feeds; Facebook, Instagram and that would be added in here.

The actual time of release could best be described as chaotic. Think Black Friday fistfights.

Sounds like fun, I wander if they have anything planned in the near future. I'll be sure to follow them on social media to check for hints

I’m pretty sure they have stuff planned. If you’re prepared and fast you can usually score one
