I would actually like to know more about the burnside from people that own them. I’ve been told they are a barehead version of the gec 56. Have also heard they are generally thicker than the Fayette, at least with the stag and possibly mammoth. Both the fayette and burnside have the rustic sabre ground blade. The fayette has the end caps.

Me too, I’ve never even seen the Burnside, but I love that shape and the lack of end cap.

Here is a 56 next to a Burnside.

If I recall correctly, and my experience with the Burnside suggests this is correct, these were actually convex ground at Bark River. So that convex paired with the sabre grind might be what the "thicker" comments are directed at? Mine was a nice mild convex grind when I got it and, knowing that, I then 0-ground it to a scandivex for whittling and carving.
