Let's talk Northwoods

Hopefully the pulls on these are up a few points on the 1-10 scale from the last 43 pattern I picked up. I wanna see a 6 or so. Not a 3.5 - 4.

I got a red micarta which is what I wanted. I liked the black undertones that it has in the pics.

There was a lot of stuff from their recent drops. Harrison, Big Bay, Little bay, Fayette, Lincoln, Bear Lake, Freemont. Nothing old like Hawthorne or Michigan Jacks and the like.
Wow!! A lot! Why were there so many stragglers?? Thanks for the input.

There was a Hawthorne on there in burlap Micarta but it disappeared fast. I only know that because I tried to buy it without success

I picked up a Harrison Bay straggler today but do not know what GEC pattern it is

Same for me, after 10 minutes of spinning wheels I had 3 Madison's in my cart, nat micarta, cocobola, appaloosa bone. Made my payment then checked the stragglers, surprised to see many still available, grabbed a little bay giraffe at 4:19, had a mammoth Licoln Jack in my cart but lost it.

Anyone know what the jack stragglers were? I forgot to check on the website due to some stuff with my animals. Wasn't looking to buy, just wanted to see what they had on offer.

are these Gec 43 frames?

I was told that these are not the same frame as the 43.

Was curious about the stragglers. Saw Bear Lake, Delta Jack, Fayette Jack, Fremont Jack, Harrison Bay, Lincoln Jack and Little Bay

Are any of those the ones on the 38 frame? Big wharncliffe and pen secondary? I had one of those and it was nice. Most of the recent offerings haven't interested me.

The red linen got added later than the others for some reason.

I wondered. I didn't ever see it. I thought it was red bone, as it looked different than other GEC red linen I've seen, and when I thought it was bone that was the one I was going for.

I ended up getting a Madison Barlow in Cocobolo. I really like Cocobolo and know I like the pattern because my brother has one. I don't really need another knife, and am not sure I will keep it, but I wanted to get one to see how I like it and make a video and especially because I really liked the 43 frame but got rid of my stag 43.

As a new kid here, I'm a virgin to competing in drops...… But today I was surprised that the "system" worked as it did...…. I had a Madison in the cart & while my PP was processing the knife was apparently "removed" from my cart by someone a whisker faster in completing their payment...…. So I go back and the Madisons are gone by then...…. So I then go to the "Big Lots" table and the same thing happens…… I get one of the final "Big Lots" knives on the hook and while I'm making my payment it also gets snatched out of my cart...……..
So my point is I think the "system" should count knives going into a cart and then, when inventory is "0", disallow any more of said knife being put in carts until the initial purchaser has a reasonable length of time ( Say 3-5 minutes ) to complete the payment...… But, maybe mayhem is supposed to enhance the process??.…...

All were single blade. Not sure on Bear Lake GEC frame. Delta Jack is 35, Harrison is a 14, Big Bay is 78, Little Bay is 25, Fayette is 56, Lincoln is 15. I believe the Fremont is 79.

The Bear Lake apparently is/ will be #59. A pattern GEC has not done before on their own knives. It would make a mean looking wharncliffe whittler or half whittler.

I had hoped to see a Forest Jack or Presidential in the Stragglers, there was an Esky Zulu which is a little older pattern compared to the rest of what I saw in the stragglers section. I zeroed in on the Madisons first though as I really like the pattern and went for my first choice and just stuck it out. Page didn't load for a few minutes and when it it took forever to actually add a natural micarta to my cart, I thought that I was out of the race, but, hung in there and eventually paid. I took so long I that I though for sure that I would be cart sniped. When I received the email confirmation I decided to take another stab at my second choice , the Cocobolo, same experience same outcome. Does anyone know if there were individual pictures of the cocobolo or did I snag the last one?

No individual pictures :(

I forgot about that one. Denim micarta. It said out of stock before I could even try to add to cart.

I prepped for the drop by going to the bar, getting a cold one, and waiting for the page to load. So I just sat there sipping my beer .
When the page finally loaded I was fortunate enough to get a cocobolo. So then just for fun went over to the stragglers page and picked up a Fayette in denim. Fortunate there too, also payed for my 21 in black linen today. Big day I would say.
