Lets talk pocket slip / sheath / organizer carry

I don't much care for sheaths for folding knives. (Call them what you want, that's what they are.) I have a couple dozen laying around because they just don't get used. One exception is for carrying a folding knife outside of my pockets, and in that case I have used one. But that's not often.

What I do is have my pants modified so there's a knife slot in my pockets. In some of my higher end trousers they come that way. I don't know if it's specifically a "knife" space, but it works.

And I'll climb up on my soap box and state that I'm finding it hard to justify buying pants that don't have a cell phone pocket. You would think that, after 40 years of everyone carrying one, haberdasher's (or designers, or whatever they're calling themselves now) would have figured out we need a place to carry them.
I have some pants with Pockets inside the pockets. I like that very much. Maybe instead of an organizer I can just sew a few in my other pants.

I like slip cases for my traditionals. I pretty much have an edc pouch on my belt for phone and bits and pieces.
This is how I like to carry my slippies. In my offside pocket or vest pocket. using a fob chain or today paracord version.

Happy to keep folders in slips when at home/at rest, but otherwise I'd never keep a folder on me as edc in a pocket - too bulky and too much conflict with phones and/or keys.

These days, have an array of belt pouches, a few here:

Like Peregrin Peregrin , I keep my phone and knife in the same pocket. I almost always use a slip, but it is mostly to protect my phone. I've tried re-jiggering the content of my pockets, but I guess I am too set in my ways to make that comfortably happen.

@dsutton24 mentioned that some slips are too tight and some are too loose. Certain types of leather are kind of in the middle and mold themselves to the knife really well. This one, for example, holds the knife with a moderate shake (open side down), but it easily drops out (or back in) with a little squeeze on the sides. You can see the shape of the handle in the leather. Some of these high-quality leathers aren't cheap, but, then again, neither are some of these high-quality knives!

I always thought pockets are for organizing things you carry with you. Vic Tinker in left front;keys in right front; wallet in left rear and hankie in right rear. Pen in shirt pocket. How much more organizing does one need?? ;)

You carry just like I do, except I also carry a comb in my shirt pocket. Coins go in the pocket with keys.

......coins  ....!?

Seriously, (here in UK) cannot recall when I last needed and/or used coins. Everything is card. Even notes - can't recall the last time I took a note out my wallet to pay for something - other than give someone a tip.

Bunch o' keys, front right. Phone, front left. Wallet, rear left.........receipts, tickets in rear right. If I tried to get anything else in my pockets would 'do myself a mischief' trying to sit down......which is why I almost always horizontal carry now.

Great to see all the different slips, pouches and carry methods

All my slips are made from leather except this one that is made from wool. I've grown to really like it. Very comfortable in the pocket and it affords very good protection for the knife and my cell phone, etc. Not expensive either.

Years ago, I bought a neat KSF pocket slip that holds a AAA flashlight and a Boker Tom Krein mini-Bulldog knife. And I never use it. Even though it's flat and fairly compact, I just don't seem to want to put it in my pocket.

Tried carrying phone in pocket. Can't do it. Belt holster. Guess I'm an old man! All my children (ages 17-31) just stick theirs in a pocket.

- old man..? I get called that now too :D

I simply won't get bigger phone than I already have, otherwise couldn't sit down either..! Never fits in the leathers, so has to go in jacket when I ride the Harley.

A horizontal pouch on the front is a tad safer when riding the bike too, if, in the event of a spill, it wouldn't have the tendency to grind into my body so much were it in my pocket...!!

No coins for me either! If I do get change, it ends up in the coin bank at home, or in the car console coin tray.
I'm due for a new Android smart phone. They get bigger with every release. Next one will be one of the new flip smartphones.
Here's my typical left pocket/right pocket. The suspended pouch and pocket sheath keep things where they should be.

What if someone says: "Let's flip for it!"?
I'd be ready! :p:D:cool:

When I'm working in the shop or on a job site the phone in the pocket just doesn't work. Weekend carry can be a bit more casual - I usually have lots of pockets free. Unlike some of you guys I pretty much only carry a knife in my pocket (now, a very small pair of pliers too) and occasionally a back pocket wallet. Though I hardly do that. Funny the habits we have all developed.

I have that same slip for mine except I carry a fire starter in place of a flashlight. I don't use it often, but I find it carries best in my Carhart vest pocket.

I used to carry my phone on my belt when I had a flip phone , but these smart phones are pretty large and I also don't want to put time or money into a leather holster for it when the next phone I inevitably need probably won't fit.
Add the rubber cover that protects it from the occasional drop ( never cracked a phone screen in my life ) and it's just easier for ms to pocket carry even though I'd prefer otherwise.
You also can't really get quality cases for the more affordable phones either.
