Let's tally on the CS Flak Jack

I ordered two CS FJ, order # low.

One for me, one for the kiddo when he's of age (he's only 18 months old... so he has a while to wait for his).

(Edited order # out)

Further clarification for some LE's. Just because you see a #999 does not necessarily mean there are another 998 out there...there might be, or you just saw Eric Isaacson's LE. ;) He used to collect them like I collect #27. :)
I knew that about the amounts may not add up to those higher number or perhaps even beyond because I have a number that I always select as well. I know on the Anniversary Mistress SE there were "300" however there were LE that were also numbered I don't believe they were sequential to the 300? Cobalt was explaining the SHBM's and had some insight into some of the more rare Ladies and the Numbers and I suspect I interpreted the info incorrectly.

At one time Jerry asked that we not post order #s, can't quite remember the reasoning. I'm a little surprised that admonition has not come up again, given all the recent posts.

If you're talking about the ASHBM's, then IIRC the '300' SE were swedged & marked "xxx of 300", the LE's were both choil which were running along one set of serial #'s, and no choil running along another set of serial #'s. Is that what ya mean? :)

It was NOT the ASHBM's... OLDER models.

Yes "300" swedged I have one of those and yes the choil/no choil were separate numbers. All this I remember as you pointed out my misunderstanding was based on information from production of "SHBM"....I scour my archive and refresh my aging memory Thanx Jaxx:thumbsup:

In the 'If You Could...' thread, I asked the Boss Man how big the BBSH Micarta sheet was. He said, "Yuge! . . . There was a full sheet and 2 or 3 partials." Not sure exactly how big a full sheet is, or the partials, but that might be enough for someone more knowledgeable to get a ballpark estimate of how many could be made.

I would guess a full sheet would be 4'x8' the largest I can googlefu is 3'x4' so we'll never know unless the Bossman deems us worthy. :(

"IF" the Yuge sheet was 4' X 8' (48"X96") that would be 4608 sqin "IF" the Handles were 2"X10" would be 20sqin(would have to split in two 2"X5") accounting for cutting kerf and waste probably be over 200 maybe more.

"IF" your numbers are somewhat accurate, and we estimate the size of the partial sheets, I could see the total count being somewhere between 300-500.

IF....

Most scales I have built are on the 2"X10" gives me room to trim the 2" down to fit the tang and 5" is about as long needed for most full tang knives many in the 4-1/2" to 5" size. Get out one of your knives and measure. You have to allow for loss in processing when cutting so what might seem like 230 might only be 220+/- and also any defects need to be cut off. Some handle designs like Fusion actually take more due to the curvature of the tang so the width and length have to be longer and wider.

Since this is a Custom Shop model without any SE/LE numbers and no specific quantity other than when the Snow Hole Micarta is gone that will be all available for order...I'm not going to worry or try to guess the numbers but for the sake of your question the numbers I gave are ALL SPECULATIVE...That is ALL...I got Mine so I'm a happy guy:cool::cool::cool::)

Right there with you. I'm a curios soul, so I'm interested to know just how rare a knife I have. At the need of the day, all that really matters is that I have "one".

Not really all that Rare....there are a lot of different Busse Knives way more than in the Past...The rare ones are EARLY Battle Mistresses with Solid Bolt and Slotted Bolts with different Swedge profiles. Maybe even a Bird and Trout from the early early days would be a rare find, but we're lucky enough that we can get in on ordering and not have to go to Blade to find these models. It is a limited supply but that does not always equate to Rarity. Rare I would consider a "One Off" Like the "Pimp 1" One Only!!!!

Yes I was looking for a Bird and Trout style knife when I bought my first Busse
It was the Muskrat , didn't even know there was a real Bird and Trout at the time thankfully.
Weren't they made as gifts I think 3 of them ? could be wrong though too
