Letting people borrow knife?

the last time I let somebody even Fondle my Sebenza they wrist flicked it a couple of times, closed it, tossed it to me and said "it feels cheap."

last time I let anybody even LOOK at my knives (unless I know them well and they know the value of the knife)

I put lending my knife into the same category as lending my underwear or toothbrush, it just ain't going to happen.

if someone needs a knife i let them borrow it but i ask for it right back. i dont let them like keep it for days or anything. unless they said they would need it for days.

Some knives are just too powerful to hand over to some non-knife person that doesn't know how to handle them!

A single chop with my BK9 (a model of lightsaber errrrr, knife) did this:

I did NOT use all my strength or swing it as fast as I could, not even close! I really didn't hit the melon all that hard. In fact I was very glad that I didn't swing hard with that knife - there is now a small cut in the kitchen bench (almost unnoticeable), imagine what damage would have been done with a very hard chop! Luckily I only cracked the chopping board in half!
I also have a 26oz 15" long knife due any time now - it will chop anything that gets in its way, including body parts. I don't want my knives to hurt anyone so I'd rather not lend them to some idiot to hurt themselves with.

In fact all my knives are 'shaving sharp' or better - this makes them rather dangerous for use by people that only ever use blunt knives. My knives are more dangerous than a chainsaw, at least if someone borrows a chainsaw they know very well how dangerous it is - a really good knife will be underestimated and do more damage than someone expects. Just as you don't give a gun to a child to play with, you shouldn't give a knifenut knife to a non-knife person to use - unless you want them to hurt themselves or someone else!
