Lever Actions!

Not just a Cherokee Rose but a BURA Cherokee Rose:eek:

I dunno if anyone has ever told you this, Ted, but you might think about making photography your day job;)

A barrel that is around 16 inches is suited for the fast powders of pistol ammunition. You're going to get a real loud report if you use rifle cartridges in this. 45-70 is twice what a 44 magnum is and with much the same projectiles. If you take up reloading with a really simple Lee Loader and dies you will be able to tailor-make loads so they don't kick your butt, and then when the time comes you can go full-throttle at an elk. 45-70 is a very versatile cartridge (introduced in 1873) and can be tuned-down to imitate 44 Magnum and hopped-up right to 458 Magnum specs! Most folks are down on 30-30 by virtue of it's lower-end 0.308 cal performance but it'll take any deer that walks on this continent and has faithfully done so for 120 years.

That's about the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! And a Bura. I think my heart just skipped a beat, maybe a little Angina? I agree with Steely, if you ain't a photographer you might want to look into it, might have missed your calling.

I'm hoping to find my calling someday, I know it's out there somewhere looking for me just as hard as I'm looking for it.
That's seriously one drop dead gorgeous knife. Sweet!

Yes beautiful Bura Rose and Fantastic photography! Id put that photo on my wall anyday:thumbup:

LOL, thanks guys. I used to be a professional photographer, now I just dabble. Not to sidetrack the thread, but I shot this yesterday. It's a shot I've been visualizing for 7 years and I was finally able to capture it.

My oh my, that's a beauty of a Foxy. The third from bottom looks like a giant Trisul. And right off the belly of the Fox looks like a Trisul too with a different handle. UB Especial top right? Am I getting the hang of this HI stuff or what.

That's a fine picture, some very nice sharp pointy things.

I will always covet the lovely Falcata. I envy you guys that have one:) It truly is my white whale.

get a 35 remington, mine leave 4 inch wide holes in deer..
Agree with you about brush-bucking ability and stopping power on a deer but I think the newest guns made in this caliber are getting to be 75 years old. How it is that 30-30 has managed to outlive most of these otherwise superior cartridges escapes me.

if you have any interest in reloading, 35 remington is a very versatile round
i would never settle for a basic ol 30-30 :) just me through

Nice Marlins, Flower. Do you notice any difference in quality in the old vs new one?

Speaking of .35 Remington, I've always had a desire for a Remington Model 8 in .35 Remington. It's the same action, (long recoil action), as the old Browning Auto 5 12 ga. I have. It took down Clyde Barrow, so I would assume it would take down a deer. Just really like those old shoulder kickers!

Flower,
Where do you buy your brass for the .35? I've got a '79 Marlin as well and really need to get into reloading for this guy.
thanks,
Russel
