Life with my knife!

Yeah, we're still getting snow here too. Still have roughly a foot on the ground. More as you climb.

I used to work in the woods. Not Forester, but Logger.
Even a bad day in the woods is better than a good day in an office.

Is that a MR Hot Shot you're sporting in this photo?

Yeah you bet. Running the lumbar style pack with a radio chest pack (HPG Kit Bag) had drastically improved my production over the standard cruise vest. All the weight on the hips instead of the shoulders in hopes of saving my knees for the next 20 years. Use it for trail work as well (as a hobby project not for a job) when running the saw.

Works great as a day pack as well if you are in brush where you have to climb or duck under logs etc.

...When the world stresses me. I retreat to the woods....

...All this because I wanted to go out and test a new knife. How cool is that?

It's very cool. The woods are my safe zone, too. Awesome thread, friend.

I'd better give some clarity here. That's no cub. It's about a 2-1/2 year-old small boar, maybe 100-120 lbs or so, but well away from mama. I was going more for the theme of 'field knife in the woods' lol.

But those ears!!

The entire pic is about the size of my thumb so detail is pretty hard to make out on my phone lol. Still a great shot.

Great posts LostViking LostViking ! More people need to unplug and just go outside. I miss the woods so much of the time. I feel like there is a deficit, almost like not getting enough sleep, when living in suburbia. Where I live is very pro-developer, so every inch of land that isn't nailed down is quickly getting dozed and covered in housing developments.

My wife and I savor our time in the mountains when we get away, and just taking a walk in a patch of unmolested woods here is like a breath of fresh air. I think there is something spiritual about it. We had the privilege of visiting the redwood forest in Santa Cruz once, and I'm telling you, you really felt something in that place. Very peaceful, majestic vibe.
