Light weight 3.5"+ blade EDC?

You probably already know this, but if all that's keeping you from getting a knife is the lack of a deep carry clip, there are plenty of aftermarket options for those from companies like LynchNW with a bunch of finish and annodization options that can add some fun personalization to your knife. Though I get not wanting to spend extra money on top of buying a new knife in order to fix the clip, it is an option if you love the knife otherwise.

To be honest, I think I've pretty much decided that it now comes down to either the Real Steel Ostap Hel Perix (nitro v, micarta handle) or the Hogue Mysto (cpm magnacut, richlite handle).

It will come down to whether I can justify spending three times the cost of the Real Steel to buy the Hogue.

You're probably getting tripped up by the arbitrarily-determined specifications your search is limited to. I think I know what kind of knife you're looking for, and it's actually a really common archetype of folder, with the two wildly popular examples being the Benchmade 940 and Protech Malibu.

Both are slightly under your specified blade length, but the blades handle larger than many knives over 3.5" because they're designed with relatively more cutting edge and the wharncliffe/reverse tanto shape gives you more cutting power all the way to the tip.

Both are under your weight limit, the carbon fiber 940 is significantly under. And more importantly, they're both slim in the pocket so very unobtrusive despite the full sized blade. There's a good reason why these two models are so well-liked. Very fidget-friendly, as well.
 
After more looking, reading, watching, and searching, I've got my 3.4"+ sub 3 ounce new EDC narrowed down to either the $60 Real Steel Ostap Hel Pirex (3.5", 2.6 oz, nitro v steel, micarta handle, crossbar lock) or the $175 Hogue Mysto Water (3.4", 2.5 oz, cpm magnacut, richlite handle, able lock).

The most I've ever spent on a knife is $120 for my Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight knife.

So I need someone to talk me into spending $175 for an EDC knife when the $60 looks similar and I'll more than likely just be performing mundane tasks with it 😁

You've convinced me...buy USA!!!

So, now my two choices:
A) Hogue Mysto (3.4", 2.5 oz, cpm-magnacut, richlite handle, able lock, clip point flat grind); $176
B) Kershaw Bel Air XL (3.4", 2.8 oz w/carbon fiber handle and 3.1 oz with G10 handle [not sure which is the better handle], magnacut, carbon fiber or G10 handle, duralock/crossbar, reverse tanto flat grind); $189 (CF) / $153 (G10)

I would love to hear any opinions on either of these knives - again, it will be my first $120+ edc and I'll be using it for mostly mundane daily tasks.

failbot: love the Native Chief but would like to get something different (the reason for the able/duralock/crossbar choice) from anything I currently have...I have a Spyderco Para 3 lightweight

I have not used either knife, but I do not care for carbon fiber as the knives I have used with it I found slippery. G10 is very durable, although not my favorite. Richlite is an under appreciated material imo. Feels nice, not slippery, looks nice.

I am sure you will enjoy whichever you choose.
 
BTW- don’t forget the phenomenal sales from legitimate dealers for Black Friday. I am not suggesting postponing buying what you want now- only a reminder put some $ aside for then!🤣
