I need something to bash my head against, if it weren't for the cutting edge on Helga I would do that, but I don't feel like a trip in an ambulance. Any ideas?

Hold your breath for 20 minutes and it will go away.

Yeah, it was a little more expensive than I was planning on spending, but then, I didn't have to buy the freefloat rail I wanted because it was included, and it's seriously lighter than the other AR's I was looking at.

Next step, find a good quality G27 style grip and BUIS for it. I'm trying to remember if the sights I have on my airsoft AR's were milspec or not. I guess I can always throw them on and see if I lose zero after a few shots. I know one set isn't, but I have a few from actual firearms parts manufacturers that were designed for an actual AR, so we'll have to see. Thinking about Troy Industries tritium flip up sights.

Looks really nice. That's exactly the kind of FF tube I was looking for on mine. I was actually looking at the Midwest Industries version, but it's very similar.

Anyone have some advice on where to pick up some leather to do some sheath making? I've picked up a stick spacer, awl, needle and thread, but my local Hobby Lobby didn't have any veg tanned leather. They had scrap bags, but it all seemed to be somewhere in the 3-5oz range. It'll be the first time I attempt leatherwork since summer camp when I was a kid.

Tandy Leather is a good place to start, and they deliver.

Well, a local fellow gave me a deal I couldn't refuse. I'm now the proud owner of a Daniel Defense V7 M4 LW carbine.

I missed this one somehow. Daniel Defense is supposed to be one of the better AR15's. You still going to build the one you have started? I just looked that model up and it looks pretty darn versatile. You will have to post up how you like it.

Nope, I'm sticking with the DD. I want a new pistol grip for it (like the G27 style ergo grips best, thinking maybe Mako group), and maybe a different stock. Maybe a Magpul PRS, or ideally, one of the adjustable full stocks like on the XM110. I can't find anything like that anywhere though, outside of airsoft parts :(

And of course, sights. Iron sights, clearly. Not sure what type of scope, if any, I want to use though.

Check out the magpul moe riflee buttstock. Its lighter weight than the prs and you can get different thickness recoil pads to adjust lop.

TBH, it's mainly for aesthetic reasons. I'm probably gonna keep searching for that XM110 stock. I mean, the MOE stock it came with seems to be just fine, all things considered.

Was out of town yesterday and was intending on buying a new pair of boots, but couldn't find the ones I wanted in the right size. Figured I would just come home and order the pair of Redwings that I wanted online and ended up looking around at different brands a bit to see if there was something else I would like. I just ordered my first pair of Danners and really hope I like them for what they cost. Sounds like they have a hell of a warranty compared to Redwing, so that could be a plus. Got home last night and my hot water heater blew an element again, so I'm headed to the hardware store in a few minutes to get another and will be changing that.
If you like them a lot, talk to thorny or me. There is an outlet they use online.

Use a pillow. That is what I use when I need to bash my head.

It is indeed a GOOD place to start. Good place to end too. After them you probably won't need to go anywhere else.

Snark is low. Im in the process of hanging a 1lb hatchet thats going into the BOB.

Thanks guys. I'd seen Tandy, but had no idea if the seller was legit or not. Time to pick out a piece of leather and I'll make sheaths for the bk16 and esee 3.

Tandy's been around for like a million years.
They're the hobbiest source, and regularly have sales on tooling shoulders that are good for sheaths and holsters - lots of them. Their tools are a mixed bag. GOOD leather tools are spendy. Some are made in Maine...
Many of the pros order from Wicket & Craig, but I believe they're mostly sell just leather, no tools and accessories.

damn bummer dude

Yeah. I must have driven the wedge too far down or something because that crack sure as hell wasnt there before I hung it. Good news is that it only goes down 1/4 of an inch so maybe it wont spread. If it does Ill just get it welded back together.
