limited edition?

What is the max blade thickness that the NMFBM "CG" comes with a 11.5 inch blade length ?
Is 0.264 inch automaticly reffer to the "LE" version?
And if not, so what actually is the different between the "LE" & the "CG" in NMFBM ?
If the "CG" & the "LE" are made from the same INFI Steel, and some "CG" comes with Satin Mirror finish, so what is the different?
Is it only the No. that stamped on the blade?

Thanks

The CG vers varied in thickness because those knives where hand ground and are full convex, it was also a very short run compared to others due to all the extra work involved.

Also those found at the shows will vary from the orginal run as they don't have the shaped scales (Smooth).

If the knife isn't numbered it's not an LE.

My orginal thread on mine pictured. :)

So, let me put it up & clear
If you place side by side the "CG" & "LE", and let say they both comes with a "Satin Mirror" finish, same INFI, same durrability, same blade thickness, same blade length and so on, THE ONLY thing one can tell is that the one with NO numbers or NO "Busse" written on the blade, is the "CG" ?
If so, why there is a such different in prices?

Thanks

No they won't be the same thickness, the LE is .284" thick, most of the orginal CG where .24" thick

The scales are also different.

And the finish on the knife was very high.

Both the LE and CG have Busse on the blade except for a few that didn't.

Thank you very much of helping me

A few other notes to consider on LE's...

Not all Busse LE's have numbers and/or logo's. From the BATAC LE offering backward, we had the option of ordering LE's "sterile". From the ASH-1 LE forward, this was no longer an option in the Busse model Limited Edition offerings.

Not all LE run quantities are reflected by the highest serial numbers, as numbers can be requested as long as your order comes in before that number is reached or already assigned to a previous order. For example, Ankerson has NMFBM LE #888...but because the NMFBM/NMFBMLE offering was only available for ordering roughly 11-12 days before the books closed on this run, I'll bet my satin snakeskin Off Duty and my left nut against a Mini Sus Scrofa that there aren't anywhere near 888 NMFBM LE's in existence. ;)

And as of late, sometimes an LE is offered with several handle material choices as opposed to just one with no options. :)

I would say that would be a very safe bet. :)

Those NMFBM LE's are VERY limited.

I seriously doubt Busse sold 888+ NMFBM LE's at $800 a pop in 10 days. :D

I think also saying "small number", meaning quantities made, does not describe LEs anymore.

correct. LE's are no longer Limited Editions like they once were. After Ergo's the term LE no longer meant limited, it meant satin edition with a number. Although the original LE's were limited numbers and values went high, I think the new system of making enough LE's for everyone that wants one is better. That way, no assassinations have to take place:D

The zero tolerance line of ergo's were never numbered but were satin and very limited in edition. My favorite ergos

Well, as long as it will look like the specific "888", and for me, any number will apear , will not make any different for me
I'll buy it !!
Funny, I read above that some LE one's came with no No. or logo at all, as I was looking to by one, I came across to one with a nice satin finish but with no logo/No. and were wondering (me + seller) whether it's a "True" LE , or a CG that was grounded & had a Satin treatment in order to give it his final look.
Any way, by now it's history

Thanks

I have two LE's with no number. One is a FBM LE and the other is an SHBM :D

come to think of it, somewhere I have two identical meaner streets, one LE numbered one Le not.

post a picture of it, someone here should know.

It all gone by now
Was on eBay few days ago, I was the "before" last bidder which he took it at the end

Looking for another one

Thanks

One has to wonder:

If there are normally, say, 1,000 LE blades manf'd of a certain knife. . . if there were requests for 10,000, would Jerry say no?

SPECIAL is a better word than LIMITED edition. I don't think that production is "limited" in that sense. Or we just haven't hit that limit yet. ;)

Busse Combat cannot always be neatly explained. It has to be experienced. Hog-Fu does not come instantaneously, cheaply, or easily. It is a journey, not a destination.

Or if you just want to buy one good knife, that's OK, also.

to me, there are so many older blades going for lower prices, that I would be picking up those instead of new. To me those are worth more as they were and are very limited these days.

Hey Cobalt, how you doing?

You have a good point. In this post Busse bubble period, prices have fallen. Some cool, rare, old stuff is going begging. If I was in acquisition mode, there have been some nice things out there. Maybe the newer piglets don't value the old blades as highly because they didn't grow up seeing it, and the new stuff is splashed all over here daily?

Sorry for the "pioneer" (as I'm all new here in general & into Busse particular) question :
Who is Hog-Fu?

Thanks

Kung-fu in English refers to a style of Chinese martial arts. In Chinese, kung fu can also be used in contexts completely unrelated to martial arts, and refers colloquially to any individual accomplishment or skill cultivated through long and hard work. "Hog-Fu" is a play on this term to imply that the person possessing it has mastered all things related to Busse.

Regarding sterile LEs: I once owned a sterile HOFSHLE. Other than the tigerhide grips, there was no indication that it was an LE model. However, I believe that Busse marks all the grips to denote the model to which they are attached. If you really need to check, take the grips off and look at the backs.

I guess I am one of those newer piglets....

I prefer the later stuff and I don't get why you would have a coated blade over a satin one

The NMFBM was on Ebay
Cuoldn't check as the knife was not in my hand
Lost it to a higher bidder
Still looking for another one
Thank you for HOG FU explanation

Are we talking about this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...2sUQkSdto7P0aZiEGEBjQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

FYI, it is OK to post completed auction links.

That does not look like a LE to me, but more likely it was a Show special model. Busse will often have variants at shows or in 'Ganzas. An example would be the number of satin FSH that have shown up in the last few years. These are not LE models, nor offered for sale anywhere but at shows like Blade, Easton, KC, etc.

adam sneh,

This is a forum for discussion and not for announcing what you are wanting to buy. You've posted at least three posts on this thread alone for that which you are seeking.
May I suggest that you place a WTB thread in the Wanted To Buy: Knives forum and maybe you will get lucky. :)

Now, back to discussion... :)
