Limited Editions Released 11/7/2019

Im still intrigued by that clip point 116. Not a fan of elk tine handles. In a regular configuration even phenolic that would be a neat little EDC.

They could sell many of these - but since they are priced rather high, the steel really should have been upgraded from 420hc to at least s30v

otherwise, some great handle design & materials

I got my 116 today - I am pleasantly surprised! The handle has some nice "imperfections" that add to its beauty. The blade is smallish (of course), so looks a little awkward, but not as bad in person. The handle does sit nicely in the hand.

I won't be able to take pics until the weekend. (If someone is considering ordering one and really wants to see pics of mine first, I will try and to take and post some sooner.) When posting this, there they were still available.

[Edit:] A little disappointed in the sheath. The sheath itself is fine: distressed brown leather that is softer, and actually looks very nice. However, it is stamped with "102" and is the same as my 102's sheath. I understand using the 102 sheath if it works, but it could have been stamped it with "116", being an limited addition. I just checked my vintage 116, and it's sheath, a fold-over flap style, and it is stamped "116". Am I being too picky?

[2nd Edit:] I should add that the blade has a slightly different profile than my vintage 116. Pretty much the same size. Not an issue at all for me, just informing if anyone else is considering getting it.

I think they owe you a 116 sheath.

I've never had any caping to do so I've never owned a 116.........but if I did I'd want the right sheath.

The 102 and the 116 sheath may be the same sheath?
If BUCK decided that is what they are selling with the knife that is there decision and no one elses. If it fits, then it is the correct sheath regardless of the stamp.
Is the 116 even in the production line anymore, they probably dont have 116 stamped sheaths, so why go thru the additional effort if they are practically the same for a low quantity.

I received the 116 also and like the knife but agree that for the price they should have had a dedicated sheath. I attached a few pictures taken with my old phone camera, some day I will upgrade to a better camera. I added pictures of it next to a 102 and a 116 for comparison also.

Buck has done this sort of thing before.......they are frugal, sometimes to the point of annoying customers.

I seem to recall that the 105 sheath was used on some of the newer 121 guides.

"What's the problem?" you might say.......as long as it fits.

Well, knives are moved around, they get separated from their boxes and they get separated from their sheathes.

So some old fuddy duddy like myself, trying to put things together a few years later.......may be saying, "Where the hell is my 116 sheath???"

Worse, if fuddy duddy is dead, the heirs who have had this avalanche of knives dumped upon them will NEVER figure it out.

My suggestion is that the owners of these "wrong sheath" knives just shave off the erroneous number so the sheath has NO number instead of a wrong number.

And what if they didn't put numbers on any of the sheaths?

Or didn't even include one?

OMG.......Mass hysteria.

I should have added that you can write the correct number on the shaved spot with a marker pen.

Thus you can save yourself or someone else some trouble.

cant do that....imagine sassafrass's mushroom closet........wouldnt know which knife went with which sheath .......chaos.:D

It should have said in the description " brown distressed leather sheath marked 102", not just " brown distressed leather sheath"......

No 116 sheaths around anymore. They used the 102 so that a knife could ship with a sheath. No way to order just a couple for one older model.
Were lucky to get build outs even if the sheath isnt stamped correctly the knife is whats cool. i feel lucky even if there isnt a sheath at all.
