Limited Factory Run knives released 2/21/2023 | 191 Zipper released 3/16

On the fence with the 301. Seems strange that the October 2022 BOTM and this current 301 lack pinned handles, appear to just be glued on. Is there a reason for the change or if it’s just a time/money thing?

Well I just bought a 2nd 893 GCK tanto. Two left now. I prefer tanto blades as combat knives.

Hoping construction on these is good.
Likewise. I had a 301 in my pocket today that's nearly flawless. Maybe a few nits to pick, but nothing I would have noticed before joining the forums.

My October BOTM is on this side of acceptable, but a bit gappy in the springs. The gaps on it are much more noticeable, but truthfully I'm not a very clever turnip. I didn't notice any flaws until photos started popping up here. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one looks in hand.

My guess is, it's for looks. Buck has been offering the option of pinned or unpinned in the custom shop for years, so glued on scales is nothing new. Probably whoever had the final say on the production of those knives, thought they looked better without rivets. There's nothing wrong with glued on scales. They aren't going to come loose.

O.B.

Is the GCK skeletonized at all? Or does it have a solid tang?

I saw your post last night. However, without knowing for sure, I didn't want to weigh-in.

I did want to show you the tang on the 5160 "Compadre". It appears that the GCKs share the same fasteners. (*albeit Cerakote'd on the GCKs) I could be completely wrong, but I can't see why Buck would execute the tang on the GCKs in another fashion.

Here's the tang on the Compadre...

^^^^ Meets the definition of "full tang" in my mind. 😎

Yeah, I chuckled a bit the first time I removed the scales, for that same reason. I thought, "The only way to make this thing more 'full tang' would be to produce it without scales."

Very nice, thanks for the info! Didn't know the Compadre had a solid tang.

course I grabbed the gcks as I have all the versions...and now these 2. stop making stuff Buck I'm running out of money......
I got 2 with hopes to trade 1 for an older one with different handles. an extra someone may have. They have always been gone before i had the opportunity to get one in the past.

Probably a combination of reasons, but the reality is modern glue is more than good enough. I personally prefer the look and reassurance of rivets. My assumption would be they were worried about the carbon fiber material chipping/splintering if rivets were used.

It's a pretty descriptive name for a cat.
My daughter had a siamese cat that my son and I called him stupid cat so much that’s the only way he would answer or come to eat. Lol daughter was a bit annoyed at first but eventually everyone was calling him ; hey stupid cat ! Lol and he would peek out and meow. Lol he lived a long life for a farm cat at 15 years old.

my wife has an old cat. I call her fatcat or javelina..cause she looks just like one of those fat little western pigs......

I never call that cat by its name..makes wife mad but cat doesn't care..and she answers to my names I gave her.....

When I get another dog, I know what name I'm gonna give it.
This you? ;) Best line from the video: "He traded a beer for him."

I know this is straying a bit from Buck knives. Promise I'll post a photo when the new 301 comes.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty impressed with Javelina. That's a great name for lots of cats I've met.
