Limited Run BK77 w/S30V and Micarta *Read for info from Kabar*, worth the $$$?

Other than the fact it's a limited production run of 150, do Crucible CPM S30V steel and Micarta handles really warrant the price tag of the BK-77?

They are the premium Beckers. A huge hunk of S30V, micarta, and a desert colored sheath. I guess it really depends on if you think that a chunk of S30V is worth it, or not.

They are popular amongst collectors, mostly because of the limited numbers, but from the guys that are using them, they like'em.

Beautiful knife.

I understand and I definitely don't mind spending coin but that seems a tad inflated to me. I guess that's why I haven't dropped for a ZT0300 as well.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Kabar, and they have very few left. Dealers are mostly out, unless you can find one that has them, if you want one, you will have to get it from Kabar.

When I say few, I mean less than 5. If you are wanting one of these guys, and have the loose coin laying around, better get on it. I will be calling back in a week or two to get mine, hopefully they will still have them.

Does Bladite and Guyon have theirs? ;)

Does anyone use their limited run knives? Or just wipe it with a cloth diaper every night and sit and admire them? I know how everyone here dislikes it when you don't use your knives, but considering it is a limited run, will everyone cut you some slack for not using it?

Oh yeah, don't worry about it. We get that there are some things that are collectible. A run of the mill BK2? Not so much. Limited edition special steel with different hardware and a limited run of 150? Totally understandable. If that is what you are into, that is what you are into, and who cares who says otherwise. Nuts to them I say.

But yeah, we get that there are those certain knives that would be better to be stashed then used, especially when you can get the same thing in a non-collectible fashion to serve the same purpose. If memory serves, Moose still has one from his first purchased batch sitting in a closet or something.

I bought a Cam BK11 four and a half years ago and when I found out my wife was expecting a boy I stashed it away for him. It only cut a few boxes. I then ordered a Cam BK9 to be stashed away with it. Got a BK9HH instead. Mistake by the vender. They both have seen the light of day a few times since. When my son gets older and responsible it will be up to him if he uses them or stashes them.

I did a Google Product Search for this to see if there were any other sources to buy it from (hoping for even a few $$$ less) and I stumbled onto an eBay posting for a used, mint condition Camillus BK7 for the very low price of $185.00.... then I saw it was a standard BK7, whatever that kid is smoking, I'll take 2 of.

Yeah, Camillus BKT knives don't draw what they did before Kabar started making them. Now that you can get a production BK7 for $75, what the point in buying a Cam one for $185. If you plan to use it that is, some folks collect Cams, and that is fine with me.

I don't have many knives that are not users, but I do have some. My Reinhardt Becker Kukri will never get used, to precious to me. My proto neckers will never get used. My original BK7 might not ever get used, not sure about that. I don't collect knives, say, safe queens, but I do have quite a few knives, that get used, just not that much. It depends on my mood and what I am doing. Since I got some new BKT's coming in, I will be using them for a while, until I knock the new off of them. I have some knives that I haven't used, just because I can't get the time to take them out. Some ESEE knives, some Kabars, some Tops, and a few others. What gets used more than all of them, are my BK14, Izula, SAK RuckSack, and CS Lawman. Those are daily carry on my body. And yes, most days I do carry all of those on me. The only exception is the ESKabar and Izula, they get swapped around, but I always have which ever one is not being carried, in my laptop bag.

Just ordered one. The gang at KaBar says "Hi" Moose.

Yeah, they are a great lot of folks. I'm hoping to get a chance to head up there soon to take a tour, I'm thinking about wearing clothes with deep pockets when I go though, :foot:.

Naw, keeding, keeding. I do want to see the factory, and some of the people I talk to on the phone when I call.

I am not buying anything in s30v that large until I have a belt sander to sharpen it on... that is hard stuff to try and work up an edge with AK stones.

Oh man. I LOVE my 301. Get it. You'll dig it.

I'm afraid of getting the ZT0300 because it will replace my OSO Sweet as my EDC. I really enjoy it, the action is smooth and it came with an edge sharper than the devil's tongue. As I've stated before, I live in Manhattan as well so with all the checkpoints etc... I wouldn't feel too bad if I had to ditch it because it's so cheap.

Do you actually USE your 301?
