liner lock problem

I don't care what he markets them as. I use them how I want to.

Oh, I see. So, since YOU don't use your folding knives, designed and marketed for combat use, in that capacity, anybody who tests THEIR folders' locks for safety reliabilty for possible use in that capacity is "abusing" THEIR knives.....Because YOU say so. Great logic!

Now of course Emerson has one for hunters although I forget the model.

Just noticed this part of your post, Steve. It's called the CQC-16. How "CQC" fits into the name of a dedicated "folding hunter" I'll never know, unless of course "CQC" now means "Cow Quartering Cutlery.":D

I could be wrong but I thought Splat just meant it dosnt matter what they are sold as they can be used any way one wants.
I dont think he was being "combative":p

I use my EKIs for bushcrafty stuff or around the house chores mostly and they are great for that. The 12 is just perfect for alot of the out in the bush uses it sees.
I also use them alot for training and do a fair amount of cutting tests as well as deploy drills etc and they are great for that stuff too.

Emersons are right on the money for anything you want to use them for IMO as they are just great knives

Exactly again! :D

Sorry for my misunderstanding, guys (Splat and Haze). Keep using those Emersons! Heck, I still use an old BM 975/CQC-7 as my main 'beater' knife!

Guys, Guys, Guys, your scaring me! Listen, you take this for what it is, my opinion. Ernie designed and made these knives for "Hard Use". If you want to test you knife once with a spine whack, why not?! Having been in the military and in law enforcement, you never know what you will use your knife for, it is in fact a TOOL! If the lock has a problem, send it to EKI, no questions asked, I guarantee it! Ernie stands behind his product, even if you abuse it. Bottom line, he wants us to use the C#@p out of his knives.

p.s. I think the spine whack is something that rival companies use to show how strong their knives are. Coldsteel, to be specific! Most of Ernies knives are linerlocks, they will probably not be as strong as a framelock. Just know the limitations of these and every other linerlock.

OK, now let's come out fighting, ding, ding!!!!!:D
