Linger when my knife will be ready?

Phone isn't always an option, could be cost or language, you can read or write but not speak it well enough to communicate, email is also free, the phone is not. It is also not acceptable for a maker to promote email and not actually use it. If you don't intent to use it as a means of communication then don't put it in your contact information. If you don't want irate customers then don't give unreasonable delivery times. I doubt makers would be as accepting of customers paying them month or years after the knife was delivered, there is no reason the respect has to go one way.

Cliff, you have a good point. The maker should respond to the customer. And he should also want that customer happy enough to buy again. But there is something else going on in this case, I think we'll find out!? This guy has deleted and then totaly changed his posts for some reason. But I'll tell you what. The maker I'm working with now is awsome!!! I'll let you all know about it when it's all said and done since it's OT.

The problem here is confused for a few issue, cross thread posting, unclear quoting and possible language issues, of course if I had to write in japanese you probably would have a hard time understanding what I was saying as well. The translations are kind of amusing if you can actually read/write more than one language, run it through one and watch what comes out. If you think some posts can be misleading, watch what the computers spit out as they ignore context completely. Lots of good makers out there though, no need to work with ones who won't take the time to communicate with you.

Cliff what kind of a language problem do you see with this? thinking he had one that's why I put the translation link up.. I feel now that he doesn't have a big language problem other than the obvious one...but that's JMO

Yeah...the bottom portion of his (ishiyumisan's)
message has made sense now, but the top portion there...I am still not understanding...lol...Strange cat this character is. I think he is quick to make accusations and attacks on others here in the forums. This is what I have observed anyhow. I am glad none have been directed towards me! I have low self-esteem as it is.hehe.

Seriously do you realize what you did{you know this thread was dead for very long time} As the information to you, I speak 4 languages,
I don't think I have communication problems. The real problem is reputation that I believe in .

Now that I have waded through all of the B.S., let me see if I have this correct.

ishiyumisan is upset due to the lack of communication from Roger Linger.

Has ishiyumisan attempted to contact Roger via telephone? (You do know what that is, right?)

Email contact can be spotty at best. Emails tend to get lost, bounce, or get inadvertantly deleted. It is best to contact people you are doing business with via a telephone, so you can speak to them directly. Try your best to make direct contact before taking further action.

Also, as discussed in great length here on the forums, you shouldn't give a knifemaker a deposit, unless he is using exotic, or one of a kind materials on your knife that he will not otherwise be able to use or sell if you cancel. This tends to squelch the knifemakers desire to get the knife done in a timely manner. There are many examples in TGB&U forum of just that.

ishiyumisan, I suggest that you contact Roger via telephone before you cancel, or otherwise give up your deposit and place in line.

Good luck.

Oh yeah. Folks, lets keep this on topic, please, and limit the superflurous B.S. to the appropriate forum areas.

By common natural, general consence your reputation should speak for you.
No I didn't contact RLniger via telephone but I will meet him face to face next time when I go to USA. This is the promise which I gave him in email.
About the deposit, it is not the problem at all, I can pay 100 times over that knife and will not be a problem either.

It includes a responce to another thread, specifically :

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3602913&postcount=124

which has similar information, and addresses a similar complaint. Basically the promotion of the maker by Myakka as being incorrect.

-Cliff
That is true and is not the only one Myakka.

I really respect your loyalty. Good boy

It is my belief that a maker that accepts a deposit should have to deliver the knife on the agreed upon date. If not then the maker should give an immediate refund if the customer requests it. I have no problem with reasonable deposits (I do not consider a 50% deposit reasonable unless that is the amount that will be required to purchase special materials for the knife), but I do consider the giving and accepting of a deposit as entering into a contract, and after taking a deposit the maker has to fulfill his part of the agreement. There are always acceptable reasons for delays, but these must be communicated to the customer.

Exactly, I couldn't agree more.
Unfortunately that didn't happen to me.

I choose to call it honor. I honor all men and women until they give me a reason not to. I expect the same from all others, and do my best not to jeopardize the honor they instill in me. If someone disrespects me, I am always quick to forgive, if they have apologized. Grudges are something that can poison a man/woman's mind. I hope you can find it within yourself to forgive any hardship you have endured from anyone in life. After all, we are only human...we can and will make mistakes, that is for certain.

Our ability to forgive and forget will strengthen our honor. If we are slow to judge and speak, we can see more clearly the situations we are confronted with without the cloud of anger/frustration showing its face in the midst of confusion. If we act on these factors (anger/frustration), we tend to cause more difficulty than what is needed. I trust that this message is understood, and I hope it goes to the heart. Some may be confused by what has been said here, but I feel that Ishiyumisan (for whom these words have been intended) will gain my message.:) -Damion

Next, I and using the link for Japanese, translated this sentence in
English. It is cool rather.

This is what I got when I wrote
"I translated this sentence into Japanese and then back to english using that link. Pretty cool."

Yes, the language barrier can be pretty challenging.

"It is, when considerably it is challenge, there is a barrier of word"

:)

I'm glad to know I read you correctly.:)
to bring up the dead post is the question, I did see it was old, I just didn't know if you had a clue or not to what happened?..
since Rogers move he seems not to have access to the web as before this I need to find out so don't take my word for it..if you don't have a phone number for him I can give it to you, I'm sure he won't mind..

I agree if the maker does not come though time wise and arrangements can't me ironed out then you should get your deposit back... CALL him for it, don't rely on the web ..benefit of dought goes a long way, again if you have a problem CALL him..
you said you were going to meet him on your next visit, it don't sound like you have much of a problem ???

and I'm still not sure of the tone of post you gave me?? was not called for and no reason for it.. I'll be on my way now..

In case you think my post was meant as an insult, it wasn't. I'm merely pointing out the difficulty in trying to communicate using a web translation tool. In any case I hope you haven't dishonored yourself with what you wrote.
