Photos Lion Steel "Roundhead" Barlow PICS

While I love my Ram's Horn, I wanted something more "Workaday", so I made these.

Black canvas micarta brought up to 5k, though I may rougher them a little, not sure yet.

Tomorrow I'll snap a pic of the inside if you folks want one. Looks like a stock handle, just one piece. Nothing fancy.
Nice job Bill! I would love to see some more pics!

Did you drill all the precise hole locations on the backside, or did you just relieve much of it and let the screws line the covers up?
Looks great by the way Bill.
I drilled close and cleared out what I needed to with a small (1/8" or so) end mill bit.

I took my measurements with my micrometer and scratched my boundaries. Once I had them marked, I drilled the center to get close, then cleaned it out with the end mill.

Thanks folks, woods will probably be next. Just have to decide on my bolster material.

Beautiful Josh! The pile side looks a little different than most we have seen. I like it!!

Introducing..... Ebony. :D

I suspect it will James. I do know it takes potassium permanganate. You can generally find that in your local home improvement stores or somewhere like ACE Hardware.

Congrats, knifeswapper knifeswapper . You knocked it out of the park, towering home run. The color of the wood and the grain on the santo is perfect with the titanium grey. The way this thing will wear it will look just as cool and used as any other traditional. About two years ago, I wanted to ask Bradford if they would make a knife like this, but didn't because I realized there was no way I could fund it at the time. Thanks for coming to the rescue.

Thanks Mike and Bob for the info. Out of respect for this thread, I'll look elsewhere for additional info before starting a ram's horn coloring project. If someone (braver than I) does make such an attempt please be sure to post your results ;), thanks.

My blonde horn after a touch up. My edge was .025" behind the factory edge which is a little thick for my taste in a folder. Thinned it with a pretty acute convex edge followed up with 40 degrees on Sharpmaker which touched the very edge. Lovingly stropped with 2 micron cubic boron nitride.

Thanks again, Mike. While obviously not perfect, it brings an awful lot to the table for the money spent. Just an extremely satisfying knife to have in your pocket.

I saw Whetstone39 Whetstone39 's and @photoman12001 's pics of their Roundheads over in a couple other threads and became intrigued with their knives. I'm not much into traditionals but have a Benchmade Proper and a SAK or two that I use for second carries in the bottom of my left front. I've been getting more and more into Italian knives as their quality is generally excellent and have picked up a few along the way. The idea of more modern materials and styling in traditional patterns is very appealing to me and led me to the Proper and now to this gorgeous new lionSTEEL Roundhead that arrived today. The wood on this is beautifully light and steaked just right. I'm hoping they do another run through these as Whetstone's CF knife is really handsome and would make a great companion carry for several of my modern folders.
