lionsteel sr1 aluminum?

I'm not sure what you're refering to exactily, but I assume it's the very top of the lock-bar. That is steel, so it's a steel on steel lock-up. I'm pretty sure both the Titanium and Aluminum models have it (similar to the newer Spyderco Millitary frame-locks).

Also, I've have had two Microtech Mini Socom Elites, and they too are Aluminum frame-locks with a similar steel on steel lock set up. I encountered no issues with those locks even after significant use with one over a reasonably long time. In fact, those were my favorite Microtechs. I personally wouldn't hesitate to give an Aluminum SR-1 a try with confidence.
