List of counterfeiters?

Is it possible to create a handy list of the companies producing counterfeits? I'm asking because I don't keep track of all the knives being produced, either factory or customs, and the counterfeits are proliferating at a fast pace. I recently bought a knife thinking it had a great design, only to find out a week later that the knife is made by ZT. I won't be able to gift or use this knife, so I will probably disassemble and keep whatever hardware is generic and usable. So - is it possible to keep and update a list of the brands that are producing counterfeits?

If the mods think it is doable I will post the ones I know of, and update the list as names are added to the pile. If the mods think it is a bad idea that will create advertising for these companies, please lock and delete this thread. I think it will be good to separate the chaff from the wheat, as there are legit companies offering good products at great prices, and are easy to lump together with the counterfeiters.

Are you saying that ZT sells counterfeits???
Or are you talking about design rip-off?

They put another companies name on the knives they make and not their own, so how can anyone make a list of who is producing them?

ZT does not make counterfeits.

ZT is one of the companies counterfeited though.

Yes, ZT does not make counterfeits, but they keep getting ripped off by other companies. Getting the names of the ones doing so right now, we can keep track and call them out, at least here, for members that may be lured by a great looking knife sold at a low price.

Avoid ganzos for sure. And Kevin john. And steadmon, Senmenru, and a whole lot of unknown Chinese factories making clones.

Most of the time if you stick to USA made you won't get clones... But even so you got quartermaster stealing designs and also lying about them being usa made. And also microtech which have a handful of stolen designs too.

Its unfortunate that clones are made all over. It's sad that people are so active in buying these rip offs.

Samier makes lots of clones too. Green Thorn does, Bear Claw does. Basically avoid buying knives from those big chinese vendor sites like Ali or DH.

As far as counterfeits goes, it's a tall order to come up with a complete up-to-date list.
But generally, one can find fakes on one certain up and coming superpower's knife related sites.
So it's advisable to browse what's being offered there I guess...

You have Counterfeits & Clones different but roughly equally offensive.

It is easy to list clone makers their knives are labeled with their brand.

Counterfeits are tough to list as they are "branded" with the markings for the real maker and 100% designed to try and fool you into thinking you bought the real deal. Only things we know here is places that frequently sell Counterfeits.

So I see no major issue with listing cloners we aren't saying where to get them and warning people not to support them. We also aren't pointing people to where these shameful clones can be bought for those with loose enough morals to want to buy them. The counterfeits on the other hand if we list places selling them then that gives people more direct place to get them if they lack the morals to stop them from buying such junk.

These cloner companies come, go, and startup constantly. An accurate list would be hard to keep up to date. I also think a list would be easy pickings for the losers actually seeking out and looking to buy this garbage. They get enough advertising when the uninformed or blatant clone supporters bring them up here.

Plus, the real dirtbag counterfeiters we will never put a name to exactly, because the name they use is that of the company they are counterfeiting.

I think this thread could go down the rabbit hole. If legit companies should get put on this list by some error it could ruin the companies reputation and harm their sales. I suggest this thread be closed. Just my thoughts of the dangers that can be encountered.
