List of counterfeiters?

By owning a Microtech means that you support...nevermind. I feel the same way.

Even worse is I love the design of my Quartermaster Qwaken XL but hate the sham company. I'd like to hate the knife, but, I like it anyway. Kind of a weird position.

Kershaw can't clone their own design.

True that!

After reading through some of the thread posted above, I had forgotten how nutjob his response was and all the associated drama. How embarrassed he should feel, but probably to much of a douche to be embarrassed.

Sadly I'm the same with my Mr Roper Eviction. Fantastic knife, excellent build quality. It really sold me on WE knives (who appears to be the manufacturer). Got it second hand, before I knew how scummy they (Jared West and ilk) are. Sadly I gave them benefit of the doubt until there was no doubt, and fell for the con. The Mr Roper is the best Chinese made American made knife I own, though. Hopefully the only one too.

Avoiding the confusion some have between clones, and counterfeits, in both definition and legal terms, and not having the time to explain it,
I'm confused as to how one would go about identifying a counterfeit manufacturer in the first place since
1. Putting their name on the knife pretty much defeats the purpose of making counterfeits in the first place. It is kind of like forging the Mona Lisa and then signing your name at the bottom.
2. Counterfeiters are doing a criminal act in defrauding their buyers and defaming the original manufacturer with inferior products as well depriving them of sales. These guys are not really going to be broadcasting who they are and where they can be found.

Therefore question and ability to create a list is really possible only with regards to "Clones", not counterfeiters.

So if you want to create a "blacklist" of manufacturers who are cloning other makers knives, that is certainly possible. Of course the ones on that list are then free to sue you or BF for liable, if you publish that list or post it predominantly. And if anyone calls them counterfeiters instead of clone manufacturers, they can really go after you since you are accusing them of criminal acts.

Bottom line IMO, if you do go the list route, keep the authors anonymous and don't post it publicly, anywhere that the host like BF could be held liable.

makes you wonder what other manufacturers are out there getting the parts made in China, assembling them stateside, and calling them USA made.

ok, a clone maker list would be easier to do, but to keep things away from legal drama, a list of legit makers seems like the better choice.
