Hi Everybody

So I went to lunch with my buddy Art and when we sit down a little boy (around 4) points at him and asks his mother, "mommy, why does that man have a gun?"

She answers "they let you carry gun's in Arizona honey."

She then says to the boy very sternly "you'll never bring a gun into my house, I don't care how old you are!"

The boy looks at his mother and says very seriously "Then I'll move!"

Gave me hope for this country in the years to come.

The little guys sister also spoke up (after "Mommy" kept going on & on about how guns are not allowed in her house & does not want dead kids)
and said "but the guns do not do anything bad, it is just some bad people do bad things with them."

True story.

Thanks, thought you all would like it.

Ha. If it is any consolation, my son's first word was gun. Honest to goodness GUN. I was holding a gun he kept reaching for it, and I asked him if he wanted a gun. He looked at the gun, then looked at me, then reached for the gun and said GUN.

Then he said dada the next day. Momma was like word 5 or something.

I would be very proud to have kids like that

Two things David.

1) Did you buy the kids ice cream after that?

2) Why didn't the kids ask "Mommy, why does that man with all the BIG rings on his fingers, have that sword on his back?

That Mom must of read the CDC reports....

According to the CDC, the rate of firearm deaths among children under age 15 is almost 12 times higher in the United States than in 25 other industrialized countries combined. American children are 16 times more likely to be murdered with a gun, 11 times more likely to commit suicide with a gun, and nine times more likely to die in a firearm accident than children in these other countries.

I am actually pro gun....:foot::foot:

With freedoms come responsibilities.

I think those statistics are skewed for the masses. I mean you can't kill someone or yourself with a gun, if you don't have access to a gun.

That being said this happened last week:

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—An 8-year-old Connecticut boy who accidentally shot himself with a machine gun was remembered at a funeral Mass as an adventurer who loved the outdoors.

Christopher Bizilj (bah-SEAL') died Sunday when he lost control of a 9 millimeter Micro Uzi he was trying out at a gun show at the Westfield Sportsman's Club in Massachusetts.

Neither his father or the instructor were assisting him.

So sad....responsibility?????

Not saying it isn't correct, but I am well aware of how 'statistics' can be 'interpreted' to give whatever meaning is desired, especially by government bodies.

Some years ago, we in the UK could, having joined a gun club and obtained at great difficulty and expense an FAC, actually buy and keep in our homes (in a safe) a gun! Could be just about anything except full auto's.

Then, a couple of nutters went la-la with 1) an illegally held gun and 2) a legally held gun on an FAC granted by the police to someone with documented serious mental health problems!!!

Next thing we knew, there was a report from the gov't, showing the statistics of gun crime and that most was committed either by the owners with their legally owned guns, or legally owned guns that had been stolen (from 7-lever hidden safes!)

The raw data from the reports was published in one of the firearms papers at the time and I read them, a lot. The report not only ignored many recorded statistics, it blatantly lied about (sorry, misprinted) others. The report was a farce, which was shouted about by every firearms owner in the country. Without effect.

Legal gun owners were practically declared dangerous and irresponsible criminals by the gov't and media. All their firearms were forcibly collected by the police with a pittance paid for their value.

The Firearms Amendment Act was passed with rapidity.

We can still own some types of firearms; but most are banned outright.

The government of the day was voted in again of course. They had a wonderfully strong stance against crime. Well, against public freedom anyway. Shame gun crime continued to rise exactly as before. Wonder where the guns came from? Same place as always - smuggling.

That is called culling the herd. Letting nature get rid of the defects.
