Little Boy

That Mom must of read the CDC reports....

According to the CDC, the rate of firearm deaths among children under age 15 is almost 12 times higher in the United States than in 25 other industrialized countries combined. American children are 16 times more likely to be murdered with a gun, 11 times more likely to commit suicide with a gun, and nine times more likely to die in a firearm accident than children in these other countries.

I am actually pro gun....:foot::foot:

I could come up with a set of statistics that would look just as bad for cars.

One thing to consider about statistics showing how likely kids are to be killed with guns is that those statistics count kids as anyone under 18, and every gang banger killed (even if it is while they are engaged in a drive by, or selling drugs, or breaking into a house) counts.

That's just a question. I'm not against guns. But I'm curious about the motivations. A knife, you can cut with. A gun...

I'm pro guns. I keep them locked up in a gun cabinet or I use trigger locks. But parents who don't teach their children about guns, then leave them out in the open, so their kids can accidently shoot themselfs or other kids ought to be strung up in the town square.

You should have congratulated her on raising two intelligent and free thinking children despite her own ignorance and bigotry!

I did not mean to be rude by my response

It was kind of a joke because I live in Massachusetts and its hard to get a handgun permit here.

Out West I carried mostly for snakes when camping and piece of mind, I also traveled long distances at odd hours in allot of desolate areas.

As I have stated about pocket knives in another thread:
It is better to have and not need, than need and have not.

It was kind of a joke because here in Massachusetts I have had a license to own a rifle for over 20 years and I would need to apply for another license to own a handgun that is another arbitrary, complicated and invasive process that costs money and does not guarantee anything. The laws are very restrictive and process burdensome; most of the people I know that have handgun permits have money or friends/family in the PD.

It seems that guns are to blame not the people miss using them.

Ok Thefifth. :)

In France it's much more complicated to have a gun. 60 million of people in a little country... maybe that's the reason why.

But I don't know if I would be able to go in a restaurant with a visible gun!

Hi Everybody

So I went to lunch with my buddy Art and when we sit down a little boy (around 4) points at him and asks his mother, "mommy, why does that man have a gun?"

She answers "they let you carry gun's in Arizona honey."

She then says to the boy very sternly "you'll never bring a gun into my house, I don't care how old you are!"

The boy looks at his mother and says very seriously "Then I'll move!"

Gave me hope for this country in the years to come.

The little guys sister also spoke up (after "Mommy" kept going on & on about how guns are not allowed in her house & does not want dead kids)
and said "but the guns do not do anything bad, it is just some bad people do bad things with them."

True story.

Thanks, thought you all would like it.

Excellent.

Thanks for the story.

Yes, it actually is. You carry a gun to defend yourself. Go down to Tucson and see for yourself. Between the drugs, gangs, and illegals it seems like almost everyday you hear about someone getting killed.

Why do you carry gun's in Arizona ? Is it so dangerous ?

David forgot to mention I was carrying my Rolling Thunder that day. :D

Ok, not really, it was a G19. Can't get David to make me a paddle for the Mossberg.

That's not an answer.

Depends on your perspective....

When someone asks if I carry a gun so I can shoot someone, I ask if they wear a seatbelt so they can have a car wreck. Preparation is a mindset that has multiple facets.

Rights are like muscles if you do not exercise them they quit working :)

Bring it with you some day & I will see if I can make a paddle holster for it, oh & bring a couple of the ASH's with you :D

Yet kids are 5 times more likely to drown and the leading cause of death is autos. Gotta look at the whole picture. As was stated earlier, they count death from illegal activities/cop death/ and suicides in the equations. Firearm deaths for children have been steadily dropping for about 100 years...

I think some folks forget what kind of world we live in these days, and its not getting any better. If you can carry leagaly then go for it. Like said before, Better to have it and not need it......

No, it is not so dangerous, probably exactly because people are free to carry guns. The most dangerous places are where carry is forbidden or strictly curtailed.
