Little River Canyon, Alabama

You know, I've never used one of the Vic can openers to open a can. Need to change that if for no other reason than for the experience. Your trusty Farmer did the job. You also picked a very good brand of beans! The Bush visitor center/museum is an interesting place to visit. It's in the vicinity of Gatlinburg TN.

Lol two years ago we went white water rafting on the pigeon river. I spotted the Bean factory in my travels. The kids thought I was crazy because I wanted to take the tour. I was out voted:(

I've used my Camper a few times to open up cans. Works very well:

It's free. I learned some things about canning and the history of that particular facility. I bought my wife a white "Bush Beans" sweatshirt which I thought was kind of nice. Never saw it again and have no idea what she did with it.

Visited Cades Cove (Smoky Mt NP) last Monday (5/8) for the usual wildlife viewing. Was amazed to see two different mother bears with 4 tiny cubs each. All told including the cubs, we saw 12 black bears that day. The bears looked pretty well fed for this time of the year. The next day, my sister said she saw 19 black bears in the cove. Planning on heading back there hoping to take some pictures IF I see bears with cubs again. The cubs were climbing trees and scurrying around playing and waiting for the mother bear to feed them. They were probably 12" long body wise.... small. You never seem to see stuff when you really "need to". But it is one of the few places in the US where you can predictably photograph wildlife in a natural setting. The park people said that some bears climbed above the fires in trees last October in the area around Gatlinburg.

The Little River area (AL) is one of those special places. The problem with the Little River Canyon is access in general. There are very few places to get down to the river from above. Bear Gryllis of course did a show there. It was reported that they stayed in motels, but that is old news.

If you'll follow Martha's Falls trail downstream, there are plenty of places to get down, you just have to walk the edge of the bluff and find a path of least resistance! If you keep going farther down stream, you'll find a rock bigger than a bus!

The whole Little River is beautiful! What's fun is following the stream all the way down to the Little River campsite.

That is a big rock! Would be interesting to see that one roll down from the bluff. I will check out that trail on my next visit assuming I have time for stuff other than hitting the highlights.

Years ago I was doing work in KY digging along the mountain (prospecting) with a track hoe.... one pretty big rock rolled down the mountainside. I was concerned as there were houses at the bottom of the mountain IF it made it that far. It didn't but it took out entire trees on its rolling journey.

Yes, it is a HUGE rock! Rocks are cool, as long as they're not tumbling down the mountain towards you!
