Livesay Titanium Tiger???

Ahhh...no big deal. In the cycling industry we use Scotchbrite pads (red, I think?) to give titanium frames a satin finish. As fas as anodizing goes, I was thinking gold and maybe a little green and blue thrown in. I dunno yet, though.

Gold?!?! Did you say GOLD? Man, this is just too good. First a Ti knife for $22 from a great guy, and now you're going to anodize yours gold? That would look really cool w/ the olive sheath, kinda like an Army motif to it. If you do anodize it, would you mind doing one of mine? Or at least show me how it turns out so I could find someone over here to do it for me? I don't have the chemicals or the right stuff to do it myself or I would.

Yeah, the AC variable would be the big thing that I wouldn't be able to score for anodizing. I've heard it's pretty easy, but not, you know what I mean? Maybe you can ask Newt if he does that sorta thing. By the way, I heard Ti doesn't hold an edge very well (duh!), but how well DOES it? Are talking worse than 420J2 or better?

I've heard it holds an edge "as well as 440A" , although that may be an oxymoron. Great you guys, now you have me wanting one anodized!

Just a quick question so I don't have to check back at the site...is it chisel ground? I really wouldn't want one if it were chisel ground.

Stompy,

I do believe it is a chisel grind. Give Newt a call, though, he was willing to put serrations on mine, he'll probably be willing to hollow or flat or whatever grind yours. I know, anodizing it would be cool, huh? Enjoy dreaming about that! Chiro, I was re-reading something about anodizing and it's actually a variable DC power source. Everything looks pretty cheap, except for that trisodium phosphate or whatever it is stuff.

Yeah, I wouldn't know where to get a power source, and even if I did, it'd probably be pretty expensive. At least too much for me to anodize just one thing. I wonder how many Ti Tigers are left now. Oh yeah, what's w/ the Palmer College of Chiropractic? Is it the best Chiro school? I was just wondering b/c I was pling around in the phone book, and almost every chiropractor in it puts it in their ad that they're a graduate of Palmer. Just curious, since my girlfriend intends to have spinal manipulations done soon. I know, off the subject...

Thrawn, Palmer College of Chiropractic is the first and most would argue, best chiropractic educational institute. Our doctors are the most specific with their adjusting, and probably the best doctors in the profession. There is a reason doctors from Palmer advertise the fact that they graduated from there and none of the profession's other doctors do!

Exactly what I thought. I don't know if the folks adjusting my girlfriend's back are Palmer folks, but I sure hope they are. Back to knives...Ever hear of a fella named Warren Thomas? I was reading that BLADE special TEK KNIVES, and they mentioned Thomas' knives--they're Ti laminated to carbon fiber and the Ti is impregnated w/ carbides to produce micro teeth (read "serrations"). In any case, they're very pricy, but I was wondering if you knew anyone who had one of his models and how they would compare to the price they go for. Tomorrow my Ti Tiger ships! How long will UPS toruture me?

Looks like I am the first one to receive their TT. It looks exactly like the picture, with some discoloring on the blade. The handle is cord wrapped and the sheath is the usually outstanding combination of function and simplicity.

This is a purpose built knife! I'm glad I don't have job where the issue things like this. Talk about a last ditch concealment piece. The sort of thing you tape somewhere Don't expect it to be your favorite utility blade. The titanium is extremely thin and flexes without a whole lot of effort. The blade is double ground tanto, but it has small burr near the coil. Good edge otherwise, slices paper no problem and that tip is awful pointy.

Having only handled a few ti bladed knives its tough to judge the actual sharpness.

Actuall cutting ability, it seems the TT seems good, and the pointy tip definitely lends to stabbing, but with some blade flex, I'd be sure it was something soft. Compared the NRG it is lighter, smaller, sharper, and not as rigid.

Completely worth 22 bucks! Emerson knives should be ashamed of themselves selling their species of ti neck knives for 300 bucks.

chrisJohn,

I'm glad the knife is as cool as I thought. it really flexes? That thin, eh? You're right, Emerson SHOULD be ashamed of selling Ti's for $300. Then again, Newt's running out of these like nothing else. I wonder if he'll make another run...I guess Emerson's Ti pricetag is to ensure they have enough in stock? Maybe not. Now I'm even more eager to see this knife!

Dang it, you guys are getting me all excited! I have one ordered and the MO is going out today, So I'll probably get it next week. OH YEAH!

Just because I talk to myself doesn't mean I'm crazy. What's wrong with getting a second opinion?

I received mine today....came out to $27 with the shipping. Smaller than it appears in the picture, and as it was stated, good for a last ditch effort before getting out of a bad situation. The sheath is cool, and I'd like to find out what Newt uses to bond the kydex. Paracord was sloppy (ends were left all frayed, but the cord-wrapped handle was a good idea. Incredibly flexible, but it is sharp and should serve as a decent collector's piece, perhaps.
