Another long weekend spent at a knife show. I wish the announcement of a depression could have waited till after Blade West. Anyway I think the move to a new location was a goodone. There seemed to be a fair amount of traffic through the show all 3 days. Sales for most were down including myself but whats new. If it wasn't for Sunday I would have had no sales at all so at least I made expenses. I had a few nice surprises. My favorite was my 10 pound bag of Walla Walla sweet onions that Bruce Bump brought me. Thanks Bruce and Kaye! I did manage to walk out the door with 3 pieces of plastic. I was in shock with that but it could have been the 3 beers.

I wasn't sure how to photograph the plastic but the onion is recognizable.

Hey that's an onion, I thought it was the back of you head as you stared at your plastic.

Congrats Ray!! It is well deserved and a long time coming for that "Handmade Award" for the bowies. I recieved one also for "Best Fixed Blades". As you may know that award is from Blade Magazine and is from accumulated points in one catagory from other shows as well as BladeWest. We couldnt win it without traveling, entering and winning. We done good Ray!

Hey are those onions sweet? Mine was abit warm for a real WW Sweet Onion.

Bruce, Congratulations too! I told you everything you touched turned to gold!

I ate not quite half of one last night. I don't think I have ever had a real Walla Walla sweet onion before until you brought me these gems. I thought it was sweet but still an onion. I ate about half a raw one last night a couple hours before I hit the sack. No heart burn what so ever. I think there great onions and really do appreciate you bringing them. I need to kid you more often. :D I'd like one of those pistol knives now........ :D

Its late in the season so I thought maybe the really sweet ones were sold out. Glad they are OK.
Would you like your pistol/folder is stainless or gun blued? :)

Thats excellent Ray! Well deserved too.

Hey Ray,

I've always admired your work. Congrats! I know what you mean about those sweet onions. They're even sweeter when given to you by a friend! They grow a nice one out here, the Maui Sweet Onion. Enjoy both your veggies and your awards, in the same way that we enjoy you and your work!!!

All the best, Phil

Well whats a haircut without a shave?

I was looking a little shabby. Maybe next time.

Here's a picture of the two that won. The little one got best fighter. Its only got a blade that about 1 foot long. I had never entered in sword before but I figured I had a 50/50 chance. There's a reason I call the big one Jumbo....

Ray, you are something else; those blades are absolutely beautiful and you deserved every bit of plastic you got -- not to mention the onions! We sure have a great bunch of fellow makers around here. Warms my heart to see such world class work coming from so many humble people. What a treat. Hang on Ray, economic times come and go and next thing you know you'll be complaining about not being able to keep up! ;) Congratulations!

lookin good ray....i'd give anything to have a jumbo of my own!.....that thing is too cool....ryan:thumbup:

Those are great Ray. They certainly deserved some plastic. Hope they find happy new homes soon too.
