Lone Wolf Knives?

I just got my Harsey T3 (Thanks roofless) and it is SOLID! I went through a folder phase, but they just didn't seem to fit the bill-BM, Spydie, Gerber, etc., but this guy will definately do what I need. The F&F is great, the edge is sharp and it is HUGE. Locks up solid, no play-good knife.

let me preface this by saying i really am not that experienced with knives...

Having said that in the last 4-5 weeks I have bought 4 t2 tacticals (1 frn, 3 red/black micarta), a t1, a t3 (this thing is huge and the liner on it about as thick as a mini grip blade), a cheyenne, 2 dark ravens (the original name for the blackfoot), and a longhorn...

the 3.2" blade t1 almost feels compact in my hand, it feels better than a mini grip but has amuch bigger blade. The t1 (and the whole t series are out of production for over a year now) is very similar to the cheyenne. The blades are very similar lengths and thickness, however the cheyenne is much wider. The handle of the cheyenne is much bigger and it weighs more, however, if I was going to recommend a lone wolf knife for someone to start with, it is the cheyenne.

Opens smoothly but not lightly. Very sharp out of the box (this is the sharpest knife tied with the t3, that I have gotten). The FRN feels incredible. The steel is s30v and people say that lone wolf has a great heat treatment. The blade is much thicker than say a regular sized griptilian. The fit and finish is excellent. The knocks I would say is that there is no lanyard loop, the pocket clip is not reversible (however it is very high and very smooth), and its a bit heavy (thick blade, thick liner, etc).

I like benchmade, I bought 2 m4 ritter grips that are slighlty longer blades. If I was going to be stuck in a survival mode, I think I would choose the cheyenne or the longhorn over it. I paid $92 each for them. I paid $165 for the m4 grips.

Oh, if I had to pick the perfect packin knife, it would be a t1.

Rich
Can I ask where you bought the knives? I'd like to get a T2/T3, but can't seem to find one. Thanks.

Ive owned several Lone Wolf knives. My favorite is the D2 double action. I don't care for the scale release double actions. I've had two break on me in a few weeks of each other. The T3 was an awesome folder but was too big for pocket carry. They no longer make any Harsey designs but their new line up looks promising.

I'm still carrying my Blackfoot here and there and it is a very cool looking, functional folder fo sho!

I have the black Paul Defender with carbon fiber scales. The knife is a work of art, open and closed.

I think Lone Wolf Knives is to be commended for going its own way and not going with the trends with regards to designs or blade steels.

I own 6 Lone Wolf knives. The most underrated knife company in existence. Absolutely love them!!!

Just about to pull the trigger on the defender in G-10, kinda straddlin the fence. Wondering, if it locks closed like the description says, how easy is it to access and deploy?????? Anybody with one please respond:thumbup:Also tip up or tip down carry can't tell in the picsl

It indeed does lock closed (the feature of the Axial lock itself, see this thread for the pics of a disassembled knife).
I do not use the clip, though, so can't comment on the easiness of access, but there is plenty of space above the clip mount.

I use two hands to deploy the blade - certainly you can just depress the button and swing the scales, but I find it annoying and (doing it this way) sometimes it won't lock properly, when the blade "bounces" on the stop pin.

As for tip up/down: clip is tip down only (see pic), but the clip can be mounted on both sides (you need to swap the scales with the clip).

they haven't been manufactured in over a year. I comb ebay, bladeforums, and knifeforums and pick them up. Recently I bought a t1 in g10 off of ebay (though the wrong knife was delivered).

Through these methods I have gotten 5 t2s, 2 t1s (not including the non delivered one), and 2 t3s...And I would still buy more.

Those harseys feel better in my hand than any other knife. Here is something interesting. the T1 is just slightly larger (and I mean slightly) closed than a mini-grip, but has over .2 inches more blade length.

Compared to the cheyenne, it is much smaller closed, weighs less, same blade length and thickness (but less width), has a lanyard hole, and imo much better ergos. Having said that, I really like the cheyenne.

I just wish they kept making those harseys.

The defender have a unique lock system you have to get used to. It does lock closed and is very easy to access.

Deploying, however, takes practice and getting used to. It's tip down, since you really need to pinch the lock/pivot while drawing it.

In defensive situation, you really need a bit of distance or space to deploy the blade, unless you become really adept at it. The knife closed makes a extremely good impact weapon though.

But I'm going to say, more than anything, it's a finely crafted piece of art you can carry around.

The Lone Wolf Diablo auto in Snakewood has been on my list for a long time now. Unfortunetly, its always been a bit out of my price range for a knife this small. Maybe with next year's tax returns?

Wow that snakewood diablo is awesome! I've never seen the snakewood version. I'm gonna go check that out now.

I bought a nylon t2 and a grey micarta t3 a while ago. When I heard about Lonewolf getting bought out my mind totally focused on them and I was able to find the cherry for my lone wolf set, a signed (etched) t2 by Mr Harsey. I love the Harsey lineup.

This week I purchased a Doug Ritter RSK Mk4 Gentleman's Folder. Crossing fingers, I hope the package will arrive tomorrow.

Because of some posts here on bladeforums, I was concerned about the Paul lock getting loose, especially with the Benchmade acquisition of Lone Wolf. So before placing the order, I wrote Doug Ritter. He was kind enough to write back and remarked that Benchmade will provide full warranty coverage for all Lone Wolf products.

By the way, if anyone has been eyeing getting a Ritter Mk4, Aeromedix is selling them and has only two remaining. Perhaps there will be another run in the future, but this is it for now.

Just to avoid any potential misunderstanding, I certainly cannot speak for Doug Ritter and I believe the gentleman cannot speak directly for Benchmade. To be completely certain about whether Benchmade is providing warranty coverage for Lone Wolf, I'd recommend contacting Benchmade.

But the statement seemed reasonable enough for me, and there were enough solid reviews of the Paul lock (as well as the Ritter Mk4), that I went ahead with my own purchase.

And also, kind of related, Knifeworks is going to become the sole seller of Ritter's knives...
