Long Pulls

It seems that if given the choice I favor the older "long pull" (nail nicks) over the shorter or smaller versions. I really like how they make the knife and the blade itself look.....plus most are on older knives which is a huge plus, or at least to me.

Anyone else with me?

Please post pics of any you have, I would LOVE to see them.....I hope to post a few later, camera wasn't working hoping it's just in need of a charge.

Should be some beauties out there, can't wait to see them.

Thanks.

I'll throw in with the long pulls.

The knife that I carried the most in my life, my old Buck 301, had a long pull, and I got spoiled by it. I do love the looks of the long pull on a nice clip blade. Match strike pulls will almost have me pleasuring myself!:D

Sadly, they are being lost for the sake of faster and easy production, like a lot of things.

Heck, I'd take a long pull on a peanut if I could get it!

Okay, it would be a shorter long pull on a peanut.

Carl.

I like them, they seem to look classier for whatever the reason. I have heard that they are a pain to do and that some makers really hate to do them.

A long pull on a my single blade EO from Ken Coats.

VERY nice, another great job by Ken......the long pull adds something extra to that blade, IMHO it would look like a totally different and less attractive knife without it...something about the lines, like the fine lines of a classic car.....it reminds me of better times and good craftsmanship.....am I making any sense?

I love the long pull. Long pull on an old knife by John Blyde, Sheffield, England. The best knife I've found in a car boot sale so far.

No pics yet, but I am also a fan of the long pulls. I have two old Kutmaster stockmans, one old Boker stockman, and a Primble scout pattern, all with long nail pulls. Matchstriker pulls, French pulls etc. What is the correct term for them?

That Russell is classic and still darn classy.........comoha, those are some real beauties!! Don't let Carl see that Marbles though!

I like long pulls but I especially like match-strike pulls, long or otherwise.

I've got a Russell Barlow repro I picked up on the forums and it is the only knife I own that has a long pull. Funny, I was just mentioning to my wife yesterday what a nice feature that is to have in a regular use pocketknife.
