It started when I got a dog in early October, the slow and then rapid reallocation of discretionary time.

No, it started long before that, when I had five children.

Somehow, lo these many years later, we have three graduations upon us in the next few weeks, four if we include my oldest son's college graduation last December (which we are counting, as it's time to properly Celebrate); three college, one high school, go. My daughter-in-law is hosting a Bash in our yard this week end, complete with rented tent, and has evidently issued a public, general invitation on social media. If you happen to find yourself on my property this coming Sunday, please introduce yourself.

Meantime, I am working long hours three days a week, on call a couple others, and am currently stretched to my margins. I have tried to keep current with threads here, but have not had nearly the wherewithal to post coherently.

I realized how far extended I was when good souls posted fine finds in my Gots GEC #25s thread, and I ... didn't respond. I haven't yet(!). I shall, in time; meanwhile, y'all go ahead and rejoice with and for them. :)

One irony being, I am using my knives more than ever before, and, if possible, cherishing even more deeply the friendship and camaraderie they make manifest to me, day to day.

Speaking of which, "LOL" is not just an internet acronym, it is precisely what happened when I opened a surprise package from the Isle of Lewis, UK:

Oh, happy laughter, and ongoing smiles. Thank you, so, pmew.

Last week, my basement flooded, and also I needed to clean out my garage to make room for my dream car, a Honda Fit:

Back to the part about good company as I go along, pocketable friendship, goodwill as EDC:

I chose my knife especially carefully last week end when I attended the memorial of a man whom I didn't know personally, but who deeply loved those I love. I took no pictures of the knife that carried me through the day, but-- again-- I am caught again and again by how good it is to be on this adventure with all of you, even (most especially?) when the deeper tides roll. The back of his memorial program:

Knife content, again (waves at Mods):

I cannot overstate how much I am enjoying having a screwdriver on my daily carry again.

Thank you for your indulgence, and for all the excellent carryings-on that I can return to at any time here in Traditional.

Respond to this thread however you choose. Pictures and stories are always welcome, especially if prompted by anything I've written above; if I recognize your name you are In no matter what you decide to post.

I'll keep tabs on this thread...

... and select a winner at a time and in a manner I have not yet determined.

Sweet knife, and car. I recently started working as an in house public defender. I had been my own boss for 4 years, so it has been hard to be back in an office job. I am hoping the freedoms given up are of set by other gains. It was a pay cut as well, but I am hoping the benefits make the trade off worth it.

Life is what happens when you are thinking about other things!

Some traditional knife content.....

You've been missed. But life is life, and I'm glad some of our illustrious members have continued their caring and community building for/with you, even while you were "off the grid."

This is not an entry, as I was actually gifted a chestnut RJ which I love almost as much as my HJ7. I just wanted to say thank you for all you do around here.

Those are long cats, not short :D "The Owl & the Pussycat went to sea on a beautiful pea-green boat"

So long as one thinks, one has time. Short glimpses are given to us of a mountain-peak as we trudge for so long in the foothills, but such glimpses strengthen us to walk on.

Regards to all, Will

Nice there :) I'll join in;

A long time ago, no...wait, it was last week, there were some friends of mine, no...wait, they were strangers, and I saw them down on the shore watching the fog roll in along the coast line.

So, long story short, I took their photograph ;)

And of course, a VERY lovely knife too, a prize that will make anyone happy to receive !
Thanks for the chance and maybe see you at Titusville this year if they have their open house again.

You made me smile more genuinely than I have in a while here on Bladeforums, so thank you for that. And congratulations on all the graduations. So many milestones.

Glad to hear all is well Sarah. The car looks great and the owl accent and lovely little SAK key fob from Paul is the icing on the cake. Amazing how handy those flat head tools can be and yours is quite the looker. Like others I miss your well thought out posts, hope the new job is still fun? :)

I can not enter your giveaway as lovely as the keepsake is, I have been spoiled by kindness lately and respectfully pull my name from the hat! Your generosity will certainly brighten some lucky persons day :)

One of the gifts I have been blessed with lately to keep it knife related

Count me out as I already have one, and have also already won a Pertinux GAW. But good to see you back.

I'd almost forgotten how delightful your posts are, Sarah. This one brought that knowledge to the forefront of my memory banks.

Warmest congratulations for the multiple family celebrations.

Paul is awesome.

The car is excellent.

There is an elegance about a split spring whittler which does not become apparent until the knife is held in the hand. Here is my Queen split spring whittler, which I frequently carry for Sunday-go-to-meeting purposes...

Glad to see you back P, and that all is well. Not an entry as I already have one.

Great reading them again.

Not an entry.

I just started read this subforum regularly. I do not wish to be in, but I really enjoyed your words, and photos and can see why so many have been missing you. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on the graduations!

Hmm, it shows that I've not been very active as well lately, because I haven't even noticed that your posts were missing, I've always enjoyed reading them :(

(I'm glad at least someone in the US knows how to use a manual gearbox :p)

I just picked out the lucky knives I'll take on a bike tour through the Swiss and Austrian alps and Germany:

Hopefully there will be lots of pictures when I'm back :)

P. good to hear life is merely busy/hectic and delivering blessings rather than the alternative.
Congratulations on the new toys and graduations.
commiserations on the other bits.
last but not least - Happy Mother's Day! (nice mug you posted elsewhere, too!)

Thanks for the ongoing generosity of spirit & sharing posts like these with the rest of us and congrats to the new owner of your spare radio knife, whoever it may be. :D

Good to see you here, Sarah! Hope you had a grand day.

Great to hear from you, Sarah, and glad to hear everything is ok, if busy, on your end. I've missed that sly ~P sense of humor. :D

This WLST's for you!

Now if I could find an owl and a cat sharpening traditional pocket knives, I'd be set!

I hope you recognize my name because I want to be in.
A belated thank you for telling me how to fix the typo in my user name.
Congratulations on your fine crop of grads and your new car.

I've never seen cats stand up like that, but you didn't leave them much of a sill to perch on.
We always had outdoor cats (they might die sooner, but they die cheaper). Once I came home to find our current cat hanging over the doorknob and swinging his feet, trying to turn the knob. Same cat who once dragged a plastic-wrapped supermarket chicken up the driveway, we never knew where he nicked it from.

Knife content: I've been carrying this Case a lot lately:
