Long stories, short

Sarah, thank you for your most enjoyable post, and happy Mother's Day! I'm hoping for the best in your reallocation of time, a most precious commodity. We have much in common, as much of my time is also taken up with family, including two daughters and five grandchildren. Also, our hockey team is the Blues, and I drive a Honda Fit!

Here are my oldest daughter's two girls, aged 13 and 4.

Sarah,

Congratulations on so many good milestones. I always enjoy your posts and was glad to read this one.

Your new pup struck a chord. We already had one (my avatar), and then fate sent us an inheritance, the two pictured below. Sometimes I think of them as Batman & Robin.

This is not an entry as I've already had my share of good fortune lately, but congrats to whoever does win that beauty!

Andrew

Really enjoyed reading this post and seeing the pictures you posted. Not sure if I ever said so or not but I have always enjoyed your posts and photos as well as your style. I don't really know you at all but I do believe that you are not only a classy lady but that you have style.

Couple of my best buddies. Wish that I had more time to spend with them.

Finally got my dream truck. I call it big blue.

Here's a picture of my owl tattoo. Your not the only one who likes owls.
Very generous giveaway. Good luck to all and Sara, thank you.

Welcome back Sarah! Great to have you back :)

I´m glad everything is fine on your side of the pond.

Sarah - I know you like the #15 frame.

Hi, Sarah. :)

We have a Fit (Sport) as well. Pretty cool little car, very flexible. Myself, Wife and 2 dogs fit very nicely with seats down. In fact, the seating configuration is a big part of why we bought the car. Also a great little car in the snow with the appropriate tires. Only downside is the ground clearance - if the snow gets too deep, it has to sit for awhile until we get everything plowed. Also have a Subaru, so that goes into action when the Fit gets benched.

Tie'em flys when yer havin' fun Sarah.

Wishin' he was fishin'.

"Can I really go dad?"

"Let me at 'im! I'll lick him to pieces!"

Trouble with him is he lets everybody on the lake know when you've got a fish on. :(

Not an entry please.

Welcome back Sarah. Looks like you've been busy in the best way. Congratulations to you and your family. Great job mom!

Ever since I've known you I've begun to see owls everywhere. My daughter and I were in the library when this book caught my eye. I've included her Classic for the obligatory knife content.

An old favorite perhaps?

You gave me advice a while back on a knife, and I've always enjoyed your posts (I really like your #25 thread). So it's good you are just busy.

Anyway, I think raising 5 kids is amazing. My mom raised 5 kids and I know it wasn't easy. Congratulations on the graduations, have a good time.

Here's a recent catch. They sure are little guys, as you can see by the miniscule #22 beside it.

Hi Sarah, nice to meet you. I am new to the Forum and am really enjoying all the people and knives that draw us here. I have always liked traditional knives and started collecting them when I was a teenager in the late 70's.

Here is a picture of my two sons taken in Florida where my youngest is studying to be a Chiropractor. He is 23 and my oldest on the left is 25.

Here is a picture of my two grandchildren and me.

And here is a #15 that I replaced the Nite Brite scales to Seafoam Green Micarta on.

Not an entry, just an introduction. Cheers.

Hey, great to have you back, Sarah!
I noticed something in my neighborhood, that I'll have to take a picture of for you, when I get home from work today. :)

Well it's good to have you back Sarah, even if it is just a brief visit before you disappear back into the depths of work! For the information of the masses, Sarah was prepared to go a long way to help me out with something at the start of the year and the classic was by way of a thank you, and the least I could do. This forum has a large population of wonderful people and I often think on how great the craic would be if we all could meet up for a barbecue. Impossible to do of course, but a deeply satisfying thought.

I don't want to enter the giveaway, I was lucky enough to play with a Radio Jack that I won in avoidspam's rollover giveaway a month ago, so I'll pass this generous offer so that someone who hasn't had that pleasure can sample the Campagna delight.

As an example of both knife content and the forum generousity; here is a brand spanking new farmer that came in the post from our own ScruffUK. The reason he sent it was because I mentioned something somewhere about opening beer bottles, and somewhere else about how I hadn't sampled alox yet and...

What a fine fellow he is eh chaps? I have to admit, it is much more substantial than I expected and feels very very robust. Surprisingly, I have been finding this tool extremely useful and have used it for all sorts of tasks...

...now I understand what you have been getting so excited about Duncan! I'll have to look into getting an HJ for myself, those 66 frames are very tempting :D

Also, at the end of January I married a Belfast girl. On our wedding day we cut our cake with this

which was sent to us (and was a complete surprise) by our resident quest veteran JackBlack. Look at that beautiful blade! We took great delight in showing it off on the day. Jack has a talent for finding the most amazing things.

I could go on and on; the giveaways I have won, the other knives randomly gifted, the coins, the pipes (times three, which were sent by wonderful people who took pity on me when the youngest of my two dogs decided to have a munch on mine!), as Yul Brynner put it "et cetera et cetera et cetera!"

If any readers are new to the traditional forum, please stay. Your life will be enriched as a result, and I'm sure ours will too.

Thanks to All,

Paul

Great to have you back P! Notice how a lady gets noticed amongst all of us knuckle draggers (or maybe I'm the lone knuckle dragger, who knows?) ;). It's great to hear from you again, even if you do like Blue more than Red- what is up with that?!? I mean blue is okay, but it isn't red!! I guess I'll just never understand some people!!

Return as you can- life gets in the way of all of our plans!!

Wow, everyone.

Thanks so much!

I appreciate it all, your comments, your pictures, your introducing yourselves, your continued good company. I would love to respond to so many of you individually (and hope to still take a stab at it before the thread is o'er), but, well, read my first post. ;)

Also? Don't look now, but I do believe we are in the midst of a vulture-free g i v e a w a y.

It helps that one had/has to minimally feign interest in my goings-on to make it to the g i v e a w a y part.

I'll try to choose a w i n n e r by the end of the week end, but with celebrations nigh that might prove an overly-optimistic goal.

Fret not, I'll be back.

Again-- thank you.

~ P.

A resounding tribute to such a gracious lady, whose posts offer acumen and insight.

I feel honored that she's posted lately in a thread I have.

Sarah,I worked on obtaining this one for a couple years or so,and finally got it with the help of our friend up north.

Glad to see you back again. If only for a minute. Love your cats. Reminds me of the cat we saw on FB recently that reaches up to let her master pick it up and give it a hug like you would a toddler.
