Longer 124?

No gotta be over 8
David, I find the proportions of the 124 just right...JMHO. Especially the earlier ones. Preston

10 inch blade. I know Buck could do a better handle. And that one is $84-89 dollars i think. Ok blade steel as i recall. The monster i have is Chinese steel. Equivalent to a 440 i think. Nothing to write home about. Im sure the heat treat is not the best.

David, The older 124's have a fine grip. I have 3, a 70's, a '82 I bought new and a 2012. Only the last has that overly bulky and squarish grip. pete

There are a multitude of different handles on the 124 custom

Koss thats good to know. And Mak not sure i can aford going the custom route. Nice knives but my budget changed when i retired. But i’m not saying no to a custom

I have a now discontinued knife from another manufacturer that was designed for competition, cutting rope. The blade edge is 9", the blade length to the handle is 10" and the handle is 5", so it's around 15" overall. I found these dimensions to be very helpful when swinging and cutting something, for me branches and sticks etc. The length and weight helps do the work for you. So, yes I most definitely want a longer 124!!!

Discontinued ? Sounds like the Froe would be a better choice.

I have a Froe and it fits the dimensions that make it a great chopper. And it is. I wish they would put a lanyard hole in the center or rear of the handle though. I would definitely advise using a lanyard. When you tire, your hand grip can not always be trusted. Also with a forward tilting blade like this, extra precaution should be made to know where that blade will continue to swing if you miss. One inch closer to your leg is one inch closer. Okay, enough safety talk.

I hate to see the complaints about the current 124 handle. It’s a little blocky but easily modified. If it was too small you couldn’t add to it. Also it is a premium material and beautiful in its own way. Much nicer than the phenolic.

Could the blade be longer? Sure it could but I’m not sure how practical it would be to actually use. It’s a handful as is.

The other big plus is the sheath is much nicer IMHO than the ones that come with the lesser knives.

I WISH THEY WOULD MAKE A RUN OF NEMO SHEATHS AVAILABLE.

I’m thankful the 124 was put back into production. It’s in a class by itself.
