Longest you've owned a Sebenza?? Lifetime knife??

I've only had my Sebenza for eight months, but in that time I've traded/sold/gave away and/or stopped carrying virtually all of my other knives. I usually have either my Sebenza, Umnumzaan, or CF Caly 3 in my pocket.

The Para 2, while nice, just doesn't hold a candle to the Sebenza for me. I'm thinking that once I pick up a small Sebenza, I might be set for folders for a long time.

When I got into knives in 1998, I started researching and realized very early on that I wanted a sebenza. A student at the time, I did not have much money so my first knife was a Spyderco Delica. A few months later I was able to buy a used small regular sebenza. That knife was my EDC up until a few years ago when I realized it had too much sentimental value to me to ever possibly lose so I now carry it less. It handled everything I needed to do with it and I never held back with its use.

I've been carrying a Small sebenza for the past 3 years, changing out to a new sebenza each year. I recently switched jobs and while I'm at work, I carry their gear. I got enough flack from a few co-workers for carrying my CRK. Although there is a different knife in my pocket, my heart belongs to my small #06-50 small insingo in my safe.

I definitely feel that the Sebenza is a lifetime knife. The design, materials, and execution all combine to make a marvelous cutting tool, and I will give it to my kid one day.

That said, I don't use my Sebenza all that much. Since I wear slacks to work, the Sebenza stays at home until the weekend and casual Fridays. I don't like the Mnandi, so I carry a slipjoint instead. The custom slipjoints I have exhibit the same excellent craftsmanship that my Seb does. Someone is going to get a bunch of really nice knives when I kick the bucket.

About 4 hours....i'll post back in a few years and tell ya how its all going

Here's my small lefty micarta 21

Haha what are your first impressions of the knife?

Well I'm not gonna lie I was a little upset at first. I was sorta confused as to why I just spent so much money on a knife. I'll admit that I really didn't understand how the frame lock mechanism worked. I'm a lefty and there are very few lefty friendly knives out there...especially frame locks. I have now carried it around for about 2 afternoons, and now understand and can successfully use and operate the knife. I was also able to cut some stuff today and that was really nice. Actually getting to use a blade makes it more justifiable in cost and expenditure. I have already taken it apart in order to reattach the lanyard. I'm am very pleased with my purchase right now and I is definitely a knife that is made to be used. I think that the next Chris Reeve that I buy will be a large lefty 21....a plain jane which I can get all scratched up.

I'm definitely not going to baby this blade despite its price point. Not a huge fan of the thumbstud, but I'll be able to get over that. The micarta looks very classy on this blade and overall, and especially now as I use it more and more, I will be loving it more. I feel like this knife is going to grow on me like, as some have called it, "an old companion."

I'm happy to now be able to join the discussions on CRKs!!!!!

I wasn't kidding about that 4 years thing...Ill post back when Ive actually put the knife through the paces.

Purchased in 2004 from Plaza Cutlery online as a 30th birthday gift to myself. Had few other folders but they came and went as years went by; this is definitely a keeper for life. Just recently came back from the spa with new screws, bushing, and perforated washers .. and sharpening of course. No re-finishing on the blade or handles as the wear and tear adds character. Really wish I could turn back time and purchase a large size as I really enjoy everything about the Regular!

I've been carrying my small standard Sebenza for over five years now as my EDC. I went through several manufacturers until I found the Sebenza but since then, my others are just drawer queens. After four years of carry, I ordered a damascus blade for it so now I can switch blades if I wish.

I plan to carry this one until I either lose it or die.

Nice lefty Sebenza. :) Was waiting for you to post pics. Glad you're happy with it.
I knew there was something wrong there. Have to stand on the other side of that one. Makes me wonder how many lefties carry in their right pocket and open with their right hand when they have a right hand only folder or do they learn to use their left....

I did that originally with my "lesser" quality/more ambidextrous ignorant knives. Kershaws are notorious for not putting dual sided holes for pocket clips. Spydercos and Benchmades, at least for most models, have dual sided clip holes. Spyderco has a lefty designated model, and CRK has a few lefty designated. Benchmade just makes theirs ambidextrous by using the axis lock.

I possibly have a 14 year old LNIB Small Regular Sebenza arriving soon. I'm not sure if I should use it or keep it in a safe.

I vote for using it.

I finally convinced a friend and fellow knife nut to buy a Sebenza - he just ordered and received a small, got it on Friday, and I'm happy to say he already has some healthy marks on it.
