• Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Look out! It (Native 5 Carbon Fiber S110V) has arrived!

What else to expect S110V+CF for less than $200 shipped. Thanks G-d that this is not BBS exclusive.

Well, as far as I can tell, the prices have been quite varied so far, anywhere from $178.50 to $214.37! Even the high there is not too bad considering BBS would probably sell it for $300+! As much as I've wanted a number of BBS exclusives I've held firm and passed on them.

BBS is an authorized dealer???

And where have you seen it for $178?

not yet, I seem to feel there is usually 1-2 weeks between shipments

Anyone have any info on KnifeCenter and these knives? I've had this on pre-order for a looooong time. After hearing about its release I popped off an email to them and got this in return...

I was recently mad aware of the availability of this knife. Would you mind providing a more granular understanding of the status if this order?

Hello,

This knife was just released by Spyderco from our understanding. It has shipped out from the west coast and we are on the east coast. We should see it in the next few days once the shipment has reached us.

Thank you

Kristin

Seems like lip service to me. KW is Louisiana based if memory serves so it's not really an east coast/west coast issue per se. I have had great experiences with KC but they are fairly notorious (at least in the rumor mill) for over selling on pre-orders. Still, just be patient it will likely be 1-2 months before Spyderco ships the entirety of the run.

Exactly my situation and I received a similar reply from Kristin. The main page for that knife shows "discontinued" so I was a bit worried at first. Kristin made it pretty clear that folks on pre-order should be getting them soon.

I also have one on pre-order from House of Blades so I may actually wind up with two. Missed out on the great price from KW. :(

I pre-ordered 2 from KC and now they are now on their way, thanks KC you guys are great.
wasn't really expecting 2 but what the heck :)

I just got my C41CFP5 from New Graham. They got it here in just three days by USPS. I do have one question, though. Assuming the right knife is in the box, this carbon fiber feels a good bit different from the other CF knives I have. I guess they're all smooth CF or something. This one is more grippy. At first I thought it was actually G10, as it's got the same grippy texture.

Not buyer's remorse, by any means, just a novice's concerns. Can anyone enlighten (read: reassure) me?

Thanks.

On the Native5 CF/S110V the handle material is Peel-Ply Carbon Fiber:

"The handle of this unique Native5 features scales of peel-ply carbon fiber—an incredibly durable, lightweight material that is both visually stunning and provides a subtle texture to ensure a secure grip during use. This premium material is extremely practical and functional, but also adds a high degree of pride of ownership to this rare knife."

LOL. I think you are confused because you are used to "poor man's" carbon fiber, like that on the Domino. ;)

This is peel ply carbon fiber, just like the carbon fiber on the Manix XL S90V Knifeworks exclusive from a few years ago. I prefer it -- particularly because of the grip -- to the "faux" carbon fiber on the Domino. Others disagree, I'm sure.

This may be starting to make sense.

So, the CF on my Caly 3 is the, um, poor man's version? It's smooth, but I like it. That's what I was expecting and it's what I'm comparing this Native 5's CF to. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
