O.K. I've been doing my homework for a 3 in. blade folder, basically I would love to buy the Sage but refuse to buy a blade made in Taiwan. ( I just prefer buying American made blades) I can't find one that is comparable to the Sage in material quality and made in the states, I'm looking for suggestions.

If price isn't an object, the Benchmade 480 Shoki is a fantastic knife. Kershaw and Benchmade make a lot of nice knives, but to find one with similar materials in a 3" form factor is a little difficult.

Yea Spyderco kills me with several of their knives, I've yet to own one, and the ones I would (Sage and Bradly ) are made in Taiwan. Wish someone would rub off the Taiwan so I wouldn't think about it.

Does it have the same opening qualities as the Sage? Knife shops around here do not stock Spyderco so I just have to buy one to try it out.

I don't understand what you mean by opening qualities. It has a ball bearing lock, it seems a little weird at first, but you get use to it. My knife locks up rock solid, so you don't have to worry about it.

Manix 2 is very smooth to open. I prefer the Para 2 though.

If you were looking for 3 inch blades though are you only limiting to an opening hole/spyderco?

because some other alternatives could be
1)Sebenza
2)Emerson Mini A-100
3) Bradley Cutlery Alias 2
4) AG russel Framelock spearpoint

3 inch folders with liner/framelocks are plentiful in the US made variety.
2)

Spyderco Manix 2. Try to find a sprint run if you can, if not the 154CM is fine. Benchmade mini-Grip is also a nice knife. What do you want to spend?

I guess something I didn't get across very well at all is that I'm looking for something with the same kinda look as the Sage or Gayle Bradly , polished liners and classy touches. Basically I'm wanting something like a Sage but made in America... Drinking and posting is always a futile en devour.

From what I have read on the Sage/Gayle Bradley knives, their quality is OUTSTANDING. Maybe even better than the Colorado made knives. I'll admit it does suck to see Taiwan on the blade, but if the knife has excellent F&F, it really shouldn't matter.

Around 250.00 at the most, only reason I'm even getting it is because they will allow it at my job. Plus you look like a smuck with a ZT 300 in slacks...

Native 5 when it comes out sometime this summer would fit the bill. The The CF Native would of been perfect but for some reason that was made in Japan while all the others are made in Golden, Colorado. The Native 5 should look pretty classy with full steel liners and FFG blade similar in shape to the Sage.

+1. I'm not a fan of Taiwanese knives in general, but the ones coming out of Taichung are an exception. You'll get a better quality with them than you will with production pieces made anywhere else, including here. And the GB is generally an excellent knife.

Benchmade has many options in that size range. All the ones I just looked at were made in the USA. I'd be all over the 3" blade utility balisong if it were a little cheaper.
