Looking for a big, affordable fixed blade knife

Check them out. (Look at title) Tough as nails and without a Busse pricetag. I have the BK2 but you would want the longer one. The BK2 has a 5.5 inch blade and weighs in just under one pound. Very stout knives that you can baton with or chop with as you stated, and I think the best in the price range you stated. "My opinion based on much reading and comparing"

Hi, first post. I'm looking for a big fixed blade chopper in the 50-70 dollar range. Something in the 7 inch blade or more region. I've been thinking about the ontario SP-10 marine raider, but I want to know if there are other options. This is something I plan to really beat up and chop up all kinds of wood and the like, so it doesn't have to be pretty. Thanks.

I second this, minus the Rat knife. Or maybe I do not know what I am talking about with the Rat knife. I do not know if they are as hefty and/or heavy as the Ka-bars. All I know is that the Ka-Bar/Becker knives are the best in class "my opinion after reading many reviews and testaments" I own the BK-2. And what a knife. I have only one thing I would want to change. I would like better scales. The ones they sell as an option.
